What happened to the 44DA

Rob

I'm sure your local freindly MM salesman would be happy to give you a trade number on your boat if you would just agree to buy that 48DA they have. BTW...was there last week and they have one SWEET 55DA....see ya soon. Oh and BTW2...got the filters, thanks again pal.

Brian

Well, Hampton I can confirm you will take a hit turning boats over quickly:smt021......"afford" is a relative term....I never really feel like I can "afford" it but I somehow play enough mental gymnastics and financial engineering to convince myself to do it:grin:.....not sure about next time but the 48, 55 and 60Da's are quite tempting.....:wow:

..... If you were trying to turn it over right away, well, you're going to take a hit. But, if you're buying/selling 44' boats every year or two, my guess is that you can afford to take a hit every once in a while.

Let the time go buy. It'll all work out in the end.

PS - I could see myself jumping on a deal like that. Problem is, I probably couldn't afford the upkeep.

Brian,
Glad the filters worked out pal. I got a call into MM ... been a few days ... guess there busy....

The 44 DA of which I spoke has been sold by a New York MM dealer, as of Monday. The buyer gave full price plus $25K for shipping. My contact also told me that they would have probably accepted $325. What a deal, with four TVs.

The only downer was the world's smallest tv in the aft cabin - maybe a 9" diagonal screen.

Local dealer has an 08' 44DA with the dreaded Zeus for $450K. Hard to beat the prices you have mentioned for non-Zeus powered 44's though.

It's smaller in every dimension than the 43 sundancer yet it's labelled as a 450? Methinks this boat is more of a replacement for the 40 DA than the 44 (43 is the 44da's replacement)

Article also says it's engineered for both diesel pod drives or axius sterndrive gas power.

I kinda like the layout as a replacement for the 40 (makes the rear cabin more useful than the current 40's cabin). Will reserve judgement until I see one tho.

The 43 is supposed to be re-badged as the 470 (word of the salesman...). Just my opinion but the length of the swim platform should not be included in the 'name' of the vessel. It is fine in the LOA.

We found the 450's write-up in the Sep '09 issue of MotorBoating. It is the express cruiser issue.

We agree as not being a fan of the new layout as it seems to setup for teenage gamers. Seems a small boat for such a task and would work better as replacement for the 40. The helm layout looks like the Regal's. Not much of a command center look.

But then again, what do I know.... :)

So if I order a 480, I mean a 540 because of the swim platform, then opt for the extended swim platform with lift, does that mean I really ordered 600?
