What does everyone do for a living?

Semi-retired seasonal worker. My winter job is staying involved in the business I helped start 24 years ago. I was VP and Operations Manager for a construction and Quality control testing company. Before that I was a heavy on /off road vehicle mechanic and equipment operator for a similar operation. My summer job is being captain and first engineer on Karen’s boat. :smt001 I am currently working with some great young energetic individuals who are going to make it very easy to start spending less time at Job 1 and more time at job 2.

I'm an auto tech with 5 years with ford and 16 years with porsche. I should have listened to my mother and went to college!

I'm a chemical engineer turned small town dentist. How is it possible that on a boating thread I'm the first health care professional? Apparently we're outnumbered 50-1 by pilots and engineers! :smt017

Wow, lots of pilots. I've been talking to my wife about taking flying lessons but I get this crazy look back at me when I do.

If one is in the forces or construction we are front line health care providers. I have more first aid courses than I can remember from setting broken bones to attending puncture wounds to delivering babies. All part of working in large groups. Never had to use any of it but have had friends that have save lives. Good thing for any one to have.

Guess what rondds (CSR icon) does for a living?

Interesting. I think boating and flying have a a lot of similarities, or at least in mind set.

I went to a Maritime Academy in the 80's. A lot of guys I graduated with flew in the Navy after that. I also wanted to fly, but since I got sick on the local carnival spinner thingy, I figured it would not pan out.

I also aspire to being a full time boat bum one of these days.

I got my pilot lic in 2010. We bought a Cessna 182 to fly to the boat since we are 6 hours away by car....It was awesome when it worked, we kept a car at the lake. I was flying VFR and really didn't care to go IFR. If you have a desire to fly go try it!! You can take several lessons and do some reading and not really be out too much money. I sold our plane and went back to driving to "simplify" my weekends.

Well until you threw the Boeing stuff in there you were on the right track! LOL

Well I have to say the helicopter time was way more fun!! Just did not pay as well as the jet.

Sugar mama (or so First Mate wishes!)

Truthfully, though: 15 years as System Implementation Consultant/Project Manager with a top-five hospital company here in the States, currently serving one of its IT subsidiaries, itself the number two healthcare IT provider. I like the work, I like most of the people, it's paid the bills and given a little money, PTO, and schedule flexibility to have a life beyond my corporate America cube!!!

Hmm. Top five hospital system in TN. I wouldn't be surprised if we crossed paths.

I have been in healthcare technology sales and marketing roles for the past 15 years mostly on the mfg side. I am currently Director of Sales for a company who manufactures mobile EMR computing carts and workstations for acute and extended care facilities.

EVP and Chief Financial Officer for a fair sized Canadian public company that amongst other things, is one of the world's larger Cat dealers. It helps finding technicians... :). Also the Chair of the Board and CEO for a large independent school - volunteer though so doesn't cover the diesel...

I am an Elder Law Attorney in a 50+ attorney firm in Suffolk Conty on Long Island. I am the Supervising Attorney of the Estates Department overseeing 6 attorneys and 9 paralegals. I handle estate planning, estate administration, long term care planning for seniors and people with disabilities, Medicaid and Guardianships. I have also done residential real estate, but have been focusing on the Elder Law field for the past 16 years.

Is it possible that I am the only attorney on this site??? Or am I the only one willing to admit it?
