What does everyone do for a living?

First, let me say what an interesting read. I really mean it. I enjoyed this.
Ok, Went to a foster home when I was in the 3rd grade with my brother. Loved being on the farm and for a long time thought I would do that. On my own before I graduated high school. Found a place for my brother and I to live and then went to college for a year when I ran out of money and got drafted for Viet Nam. Joined the Army, off to Ft. Monmouth to the signal school and then to Germany to SC where I went to U/SC majoring in Economics and Accounting, only because I was getting straight A's. Not sure how. Spent 20 years in the Army. Nine years enlisted (E6) and 11 years as an officer CPT. After the Gulf War big slow down and no more promotions. I am an OCS grad and a Logistics officer. Worked as Operations and GM for a third party logistics company for about 5 years then went into the investment/mortgages/estate planning and made TONS of money. So I retired again and I bought me a boat. A SR 270 Sundancer and joined the Golf Club. Played golf in the morning and boated in the afternoon for about 9 years. God divorced and remarried. Went back to work. Divorced from her but still working. Actually, I love what I am doing. I am a contractor hired as a lead logistics type who for the past 5 1/2 years has been doing SharePoint. I teach it. Build/design it. Write the desk guides and run all over the campus to help people. I will turn 65 this month. Will retire in about a year if not sooner as I am starting up a consulting company and moving to NC where I will spend what time I have left with my family.
When I look where I am today and how I started out I am thankful beyond words. So what do I do for a living - Thank God for my life.

Great thread. VP Global Supply Chain for Carling Technologies

Yes Sir...as well as the thermal breakers on your panel. Also, the Octoplex System that is standard on Vikings and Horizon Yachts....

Principal Systems Engineer/Technical Lead for a software company. My job is to make my software work for our clients, and make sure my team has what they need to do that.

We make the software that makes video on demand work for cable. We handle the ingest of the assets (movies), processing, storage, customer provisioning and billing, etc. So when you click on demand for maybe 50% of the subscribers in the US, your set top will communicate back to my servers/software and we handle getting that stream to your set top once you order.

We also do ad-insertion, so when you're watching ESPN and a local car ad comes on over the network feed, thats our software doing that too.

Currently a production Supervisor at Raytheon Space and Airborne, been here for the last 5 years but before that I was a Quality Engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems. Have loved working for Raytheon and it pays the bills but only get to use a very small part of my skill set.

I've owned or run small business for the last 16 years since graduating college. We started with a waterless car wash product (Dri Wash) back in the 90s, I took over in 2002, did well with that and left the family biz back in 2009 to venture out with other "dreams."

I am current CSO/CMO of India's only professional basketball league and we own our own production company which produces all the games live. We also own all the teams of the league, we're coming up on the 1 year anniversary since starting. I travel over there 4 times per year when we're in season, next trip is this July. It's crazy how things work in some parts of the world, getting a real life lesson on culture and politics. You think our system is messed up?

Here's what we do.... https://vimeo.com/164341847

Thanks! Garry is a kid with potential, plays hard. We filmed a reality show in Phoenix last November and playing physical, Garry accidentally broke the jaw of our friend/biz partner in a scrimmage. If you watch NFL network, you'll know who it was ;) Agu is another kid who can jump out of the gym. Here's that show that aired on the network in India. https://vimeo.com/album/3852775/video/151939008

My brothers boat on Mead. One has a 280 Sundancer and the other a Formula 400SS (Cookie Monster). Both trailer the boats to the lake.

Very interesting to read what everybody does on here. I'm 28 years old, a full time real estate investor and police officer but planning on retiring from law enforcement soon ;)

We are at Temple Bar Marina,Arizona-slip#406-anytime

Well my technical title Is CAD Methods OPO for Schaeffler Luk North America.... What does that mean? Yeah, that's a good question. I'm an engineer that trouble shoots CAD models using PTC Creo for a large company with plants all over the world. I get to talk to people from all over and travel to do trainings and such. It's interesting work and I get to see the up an coming technology for the automotive, electrical, transportation, and aerospace industries. It's a job but it's not a delivery captain for Sea Ray Boats...

Business and management consultant for the past 19 years. I help companies define, analyze and implement their business objectives...from helping the C-team create a corporate strategy to helping implement and an advanced analytics platform. Whatever the problem, I help define it and create the solution.

Oh, and on the side I also have a little app for boaters called Boating Suite that is available at BoatingSuite.com ;-) By the way, my app was mentioned in the current issue of Power and Motoryacht Magazine....that was a nice boost for sales to help pay for some boat gas!

Tonka, I took a look at the app and it looks interesting. But after the free version, what does the upgrade cost? Also, would be great if there was a way to update the data (especially initial load) with a laptop. Is that possible?

I'm a linguist. I manage a translation company specializing in technical translation into foreign languages! So if you buy products with those annoying instruction or assembly manuals in multiple languages, that potentially could be us!

I'm one of the owners of a language company in Seattle Washington. It's a family business that recently celebrated a 30 year anniversary. We provide translation, localization and interpreting services in over 150 languages. I oversee the company financials and the IT department among other departments within the company. I'm grateful that we have an amazing staff that allows me the freedom to take occasional Fridays off to go boating!!

MExelsior, I wonder if I know you? Will you be attending the ALC conference in San Diego next week? What a small world!!
