What do you use to cover housing when removing drives for winter

I'm going to remove them this year and I usually stuff a bag or plastic over it. Should I throw a packet of silica gel in the housing to absorb moisture?

I usually leave mine on, but have left it off over the winter when I was working on the drive. I used a bell housing gasket as a pattern and cut a piece up plywood that mounts on like a gasket - I stuffed an old rag inside the bellows for good measure. Not water proof, but kept it dry and clean enough over the winter - my boat was stored in a dry stack covered on 3 sides. IMG_0607.jpg

I usually just tape a piece of plastic sheeting around it, works fine. No need for silica as it is open to the bilge.
