GW's mother is 94 years old (95 in December) and is just a kick to have around. She's in great health, love to do stuff, and usually takes care of our house and the pets when GW and I got out of town or spend a night on the boat.
Mom has never spent a night on a boat smaller than a cruise ship so we decided that this weekend we'd take her out for an overnight cruise. We pulled out of the slip around 3:30 on Saturday and, after calling the railroad bridge to have them raise it for us, we headed to one of our favorite places to overnight. Sorry this one of the bridge is fuzzy. I was busy changing camera batteries as we were coming up to it and rushed the shot.
The weather was perfect, no winds, temps in the high 70's, a storm leaving our area and moving to the NE. Here's a bow shot after we passed the bridge. Gotta love that calm water.
And a wake shot at 10kts…
This area we overnight at is right at the confluencre of the Snake River and Columbia River. It has a couple of mooring buoys that are first-come, first-served. We were lucky to get the one we wanted because nobody else had showed up yet.
GW immediately wet her line to try to catch something dumb enough to bite whatever was on her line… (no luck all weekend)
Meanwhile Mom grabbed a magazine and relaxed (Note the tug in the background)…
As the sun started to set we were treated to a nice display…
We had a couple of adult beverages then enjoyed a nice dinner of barbecued salmon, fresh tomato salad and marinated shrimp. Sorry, no pics…I was too busy with the fork to pick up the camera.
This morning’s weather was as nice as last night. This is what it looked like…
So after relaxing all morning and into the afternoon we untied and headed back to the slip. A good time was had by all and Mom said it was one of the best memories she's ever had.
I guess that means she enjoyed it.
