What’s that button do? Nothing, it’s broken

The low beam bulb on my spotlight is burned out. It bugs me because I am peculiar about things working, and yet I never remember to fix it. It is actually kind of convenient because the joystick function on my spotlight only works if the light is on; I store it pointed to the port aft corner of the boat, so this way I can turn it on and point it forward without blinding myself.

My Cockpit sink I have removed the caulking because it looked like crap. I need to re-bed that along with the stainless steel cupholders I replaced the white crappy looking plastic ones that were there.
I need to re-install the bilge shelf I made because I don't like the "had to get it done because we were going on vacation" crappy "L' brackets I used.

I finally have a pretty short list:
coiled washdown hose kinked and got a pin hole in it - bought new one last night
1 fire extenguisher discharged after I knocked it loose.... really amused the family after I sat up with a white shirt and choice words.... bought new one last night
volt gauges are good for telling me there is 'some' voltage....still looking for replacement ideas

Not too bad - but then again I almost constantly do maintenance to the boat - it's good therapy.

Recent work includes:
new starboard tach
new LED cockpit lighting
new chartplotter
new horn - still sounds like a duck but at least the new cover is stainless vs. plastic
new radio and speakers + ipod connector + XM
painted swim platform with new non-skid
new fenders and lines
new engine belts
new engine oil/filters
new trailer brake pads - fresh bearing grease

Still need/want:
new hot water heater so I can get one with a heat exchanger
underwater swim platform lighting
LED lights for trailer
helm cleanup - new panels and better integration of the chartplotter

ah....boats....

My back up light on the transom only comes on when I turn on the Nav lights....it has been this way since the boat was new. It never turns on when I shift into R during the day....I guess I'll leave it this way. Seriously, I had someone on the dock tell me my backup light was out while I backed into my slip....he wasn't a boater.

Neither of my bilge pumps are working. But, it hasn't been a problem yet, and we've got a week long trip planned here in a couple weeks, so maybe I'll get to it after that......I have a vacuum cleaner (that has many uses) which would probably work in a pinch.

Good one.. :smt038

You should have asked him to look to see if your turn signals were flashing.

I have two screens in my camper canvas that have small tears in them. And one zipper that ripped at the seams because the Marina did not disconnect the Canvas before opening the engine hatch. I am one of those that is obsessd with everything on the boat to be working right and looking right. I wanted to wait til next year to do canvas repairs, but my OCD might get the best of me. Other than that , I have a latch that needs replaced in the cockpit. That one doesn't bother me and may go years before I fix it.

My speedo stops working once in a while due to the inlet getting clogged. So while not a permanent item, I do tend to leave it often, as really dont need it.

You're braver than I am - not sure I'd go out without at least one of them working. I don't think you could rely on a shopvac removing water the same as an actual pump.

Leak in the fresh water lines
Depth indicator on the Garmin 3005C quit
Garmin no longer talks to the Icom 504 to give a position

I will have the dealer fix/repair the above as well as reinstall the drain plugs in the engine block. Not enough Advil available for me to handle both the plugs and the water line

The lens on the starboard navigation light is loose.
Don't feel like fooling with it yet.

Canvas needs replacement-- 1 more year.
Water in Central Vac...still
2nd bilge pump doesn't pump like it should- stop valve?
Seats are scratched (previous owner)..I'm thinking about having them redone.
Snaps on canvas.
Snap in carpet-- I have a quote!

The Speedometer
I Changed the little pitto tube at the bottom of the drive but NO good. I think the hose that runs from the drive to the speedometer it is be possible that it is crushed, maybe from tiewraps.
I hooked up a " ben casey" device to the hose and it took alot of pressure to make the speedometer to move. John G

I have a switch that doesn't do anything. But it's because my boat didn't come with the underwater light option.

Everything else works - so far anyway.

Well I have an older boat... It's a 1989!

So...

I get about 2 gallons of water after a day out... I don't know where it's coming from, can't find the leak.

Outdrive position gauge doesn't work because the wires were bad and I just cut them and won't fix them because I don't need it!

Everything else works just fine!

Still floats....

Yeah. . .like I am going to tell THIS lot what's wrong with my boat!

I have to agree. . .going out on the SeaRay without working bilge pumps scares me a bit. I once had an improperly installed manifold gasket (freakin' incompetent dealer mechanics) spray water everywhere. The bilge pump coming on (at night. . .lit the light) alerted me to the very serious problem. Also . . .my boat has I/O's which means that I have drive boots. . . .spring a leak in those, and I will *need* those pumps!

stereo mute button, do not plan on fixing it

Mine doesn't work either. I'm convinced it's a warranty problem on my 89! My spotlight mysteriously disappeared between Spokane and the San Juans while trailering. Still haven't found it, but I'm optimistic it will show up somewhere! All of the cabinet hinges require constant fiddling. They fall off and have to be put back on. I haven't found a replacement but I will. Does a broken left blinker on the trailer of the 300 DA count??
