I purchased my 97' 330 da in June and although she is in great shape mechanically she suffers from oxidation. Most notably on the front valence in between the bottom of the windshield to the non skid deck.
I read a ton of reviews about buff magic pro polisher and compound so for a $200 Amazon purchase why not right??. I began with that dreaded front valence and was pleased to see that it went from being very rough to smooth to the touch. I wasn't satisfied with the shine so after seeing a picture of a new 330 I got motivated to give it another whirl.
After reading up about wet sanding I stopped by the Home Depot and bought a sanding block and 2000 grit wet/dry. Only applying minimal pressure I wet sanded that valence area. After I was done sanding I hit it with the buff magic again and WOW!! It is literally a showroom shine!.
Sorry for the long story but I was very pleased with the outcome of this method and I'd like to pass it on. Here is a picture of just one area I've wet sanded/buffed/polished.
