I have an 86 23 ft weekender and the cabin floor is constantly wet. The last time it was out of the water I didn't see any cracks. I just installed a new bilge pump in the motor well. Am I missing something? is there another bilge located somewhere else that I don't know about?
Thanks Ken

Ken,

I had a 1989 23' Weekender and found a couple of places that water could come from. Keep in mind the boats may not be exactly the same and half of the cockpit in mine was carpet over fiberglassed plywood.

-A very small leak in the hatch(es) in the cabin can cause this to happen and is the most likely cause. Check your hatches and seals carefully and also check your windows. The gaskets can have dirt built up on them, under them, and they can shrink over time allowing water to seep in.
-There was a sump for the sinks under the stairs to the cabin and that could leak into the cabin if there was a breach or the sump pump failed. When this sump pump fails to drain this holding area water can build up and seep into the cabin. Also check to see if your sinks in the cabin are leaking.
-The gas tank on our model was in a fiberglass over wood boxed in area with a drain hole. When the drain hole for the area holding the gas tank got blocked off, water would accumulate around the gas tank and that could also cause water to seep onto the cabin floor.
-In the very front of the boat, under the cushions, there was a V shaped small storage compartment that we never used. In that compartment you could get to the back of the cleat, that was used for winching the boat onto the trailer. When the caulking around the thru-bolts of the cleat started leaking water would accumulate in that compartment and can make the carpet wet. You should also check the other compartments under the cushions to see if another area is holding water.

Let us know what you find and hope this information is helpful.
