I'm having the same problem as 1731KG described in this thread, so wanted to share:

I've been reading all these leak issues trying to figure out why after 2 years of owning my 240 it's collecting water in the bilge also. It only happens when it's raining. The water collects under the wast basket and seeps onto the carpet. There are no other wet areas that I can find. I've checked the windows and they seem tight. I'm going to try the hose test on the rub rail and see if that's the problem. Very frustrating....especially since it's been raining here for 40 days and 40 nights! Appreciate any suggetions.

My 06 270 Amberjack has the same problem. The cockpit carpet is damp, and there is a significant amount of water under the waste basket. The water was fresh vs. salt.

I don't use the shower very often, but there was water in the sump.

The cockpit had been dry for a while. On Friday we had torrential rain; Sunday on the boat delivered damp carpet and a good 1/2 inch of water in the forward bilge. It was pretty scuzzy in there so I mopped it all out and got it relatively dry. The the amount of mold, it's been staying pretty damp in there.

Thinking a rain leak, I found that a number of the screws on the port portholes were loose - 1-2 full turns each. Also, I pulled out the fridge to look for evidence of a leak on the inside of the hull.

I found a spot behind the fridge that was a little bit damp. It was on a ledge and had sawdust from construction that was wet. This was directly below the left rear porthole. There's also a channel right below the wet spot that could direct leaking rainwater into the bilge under the waste basket. Now I just need to wait for some rain to see if tightening the portholes solved the problem.

Well, after about a week my bilge is still dry. I think tightening the port holes did the trick. I also tightened the little adjuster screws on the black plastic dogs - I think that helped as well.

FYI, the '05 and up 270 AJ and 260 DA are the same hull and cabin layout (basically) so the same fix will likely apply to the 260 DA as well.

Thanks for the update, Brad. :smt001

I have an 07 270AJ with no problems but I did have an 06 240DA with that problem. Two things I needed to fix were the shower pump in the buldge under the step and the connecting seal to the feash water tank in my 240DA.
The shower pump is enclosed so any water outside of it will not pick up. If the pump get plugged with mold like mine did then it will back up and run into the floor. The fresh water tank in the bow has a lousey seal to the intake and distribution pipe. My 270AJ was built the same so before I filled it with water I fixed the seal between the tank and pipe with silcone seal and teflon tape and then tightened the straps around the pipe.

I reported the design problem to Sea Ray.

Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem on my 270 AJ but it was sea water in there, wet carpet too. Turned out to be a weather seal problem around my port rub rail. Presumably from waves forcing water up in there. Was offshore when I noticed it. Deck, rub rail (white plastic) and stainless rail screws had all either backed out or stripped allowing top part of deck to separate from lower part of hull gapping the weather stripping/sealant. Noted dried sea water behind electrical panel, in fact it was starting to severely corrode the circuit breakers. I could see a gap in the sealant just aft of the aft port window/porthole. I could even see daylight coming in when viewed from the interior with electical panel opened. Had to remove rub rail, both stainless and white portion. Resealed. WHAT A MESS that sealant is and difficult to work with, it's like grease, gets ALL OVER EVERYTHING. Filled (partially) the stripped holes with epoxy. Put it all back together and haven't had a problem since. Knock on wood.

In the past I talked about mystery water coming from the air conditioner pan on my 270 aj. lately we have had a lot of rain, and the wet carpet problem returned.

I have the fish package on my 270 aj, and found one one of the radar arch bolt pads had loose bolts, and 2 seals on different pads in poor shape. Tightened things up and used some sealant, it is dry now
