This is a '99 4.5 BCGTC. I'm having the 'shut down after releasing the pre start' issue and have started troubleshooting. I've found the oil temp switch (pn 43242) to be bad and although the genny is still shutting down upon release that really isn't the reason for this post. I'm trying to find the oil pressure switch (pn 32923). The only sensor/switch i can seem to find in the general location is a single post and the part diagram/pictures show a double post. :smt100 Am I not in the right location?

That crimp ring is fugly. I would cut the wire and replace the connector. Looks like the oil sender though.

Thanks guys.. Yeah Bt I've got all the manuals and been thru them more than once but can't seem to find this particular part or the oil pressure sensor. The picture on page 37 of the operators manual points to the same area as this. (Although not a great pic) I'm not any kind of a mechanic so if it's not black and white...... When I get back to the boat I'll try tracing the lines again but it just seems it would be located in a 'serviceable' area. The genny only had 87 hours on it (original to the boat) when I got the boat a couple months ago but could it be an improper part was put on, and if so where's the second wire?
Humph, I had planned on replacing that connector and when you say oil sender is that an interchangeable term with sensor and/or switch?

I have a 4.5 BCTGC in my 330 and the oil pressure switch is located where your's is, but it appears that your switch is screwed into a right angle adapter. My oil pressure switch is screwed straight into the side of the block with the two terminals perpendicular to the block.

If your not the original owner the PO may have modified the wiring, the manuals list a 2 wire switch not a 1 wire.
That type of switch, on-off is sometimes used for a oil pressure light . no oil pressure closes the switch and a bulb lights
oil pressure opens the switch and the light goes out.

look at page 48 in the post#4 link, shows the location of the oil pressure switch

Thanks for the pic LTD... And yes I've seen that illustration too BT and that's what's been throwing me since mine is only a single.. Guess I've got the correct spot. I can get it to trigger the genny alarm so that makes sense. So only conclusion must be is that PO must've had some work done on it and it's been modified. I just need to find where the second wire would connect if I want to change it out or find that particular sender.. Thanks for the help.

From the sound of it ,it appears it was modified for a alarm circuit and the original 2 wires may have been combined elseware or the oil pressure switch with 2 wires was removed and the 1 wire pressure switch and alarm light was installed.
The exaust temp and engine temp are wire to the same circuit ,in series. start there and backtrack

Maybe the pressure switch was replaced with a single wire and the other wire was tied to ground to make it work?

I'm not familiar with your genset. However ours has 2 oil pressure senders , the single wire on ours is used in conjunction with the Systems Monitor. NAPA #OP6619

Thanks for the input Tom. It's just not what any of the schematics, technical manualor parts manual shows. I think that's my next step is to get that one replaced and wired in sequence with the others like its drawn and then try to find what the original problem was leading to it being wired this way. I'm certainly learning more than I ever wanted to know about electrical stuff..... Oh and I'm still having the shut down on release of the start button. Tested all sensors, capacitor, over speed board.

I know this is pretty old post, but your photo of the single terminal Oil Pressure switch is the exact same one I have, and all the diagrams, parts lists, and schematics point to a 2-terminal switch. Just wondering if you ever figured this out? I am trying to solve the issue on my 99 7.2Gen
