Westerbeke Generator 4.5 BCGTC shorting out at red reset button. When the generator seemed to get overloaded on my 1999 Sea Ray 330 Sun Dancer, the generator stalled out. Now it's like the battery has been disconnected, no lights at panel, dead. Ice cold!!!! No DC juice. I reset the red button on the back of the electric box, it continues to short out & POP. Pulled the 20amp device and was able to reset with positive flow. Reinstalled, reset button popped. Checked for current from three wires that connect, has DC, not sure where to look for a short. Any one have any ideas or experience anything like this. Someone mentioned starter motor, choke governer system? Help!!!!!

I can't say for sure what your problem maybe,however I found my main harness for the gen was not routed properly as it was in contact with the exhaust elbow.It caused the plastic conduit to melt,luckily I found it before it burnt down to the wires.
