Westerbeke 9.6kw (gas) 8amp fuse

Hi All,

Since Westerbeke agents here in Australia are few I was wondering if anyone might know my problem

My generator has suddenly started to blow the 8 amp fuse It can get ii to crank over 2 to 3 times
before blowing. Also, I remember when I use to hold the "pre-heat" switch I could hear the "choke solenoid kick in, I don't hear this anymore..Not sure if the 2 are related.

The other strange thing is if I try and start the gen at the generator it-self using the toggle switches it blows the fuse as soon as the solenoid engages..but at the remote switch, Searay
control panel I can get the 2 to 3 turn overs

Ok,

I fixed the problem..seems to be the type of fuse I am using so I went for a 20amp standard automotive fuse

I manually adjusted the choke until the engine started then released it once started..
(choke solenoid problem) Mrs Captain started the generator from the control panel.

generater ran like a dream
