I am putting two new belts on my generator after doing some other maintenance including a new impeller. I learned from the Westerbeke master distributor that there are no adjustments or easy way to put these new belts on. I was successful putting the outer "governor belt" on after loosening the governor and twisting it down a bit but there is no way the belt westerbeke sent me should fit on the three pulleys for the "raw water belt". I know that I ordered the correct part number and that they sent the correct belt. The best way I can describe this is that that belt is so much smaller that it has about 1" before it can be work up over the pulley even with the raw water pump off the mount. It's driving me crazy. Anyone ever experience this. This is on my 2003 300 SD. There have been a bunch of other engineering "scratch my head" moments while working on this generator as well.

Can't believe there is no way to "adjust" a belt. Do you have a manual. If not I'm sure you can find one online.

You did it by the book for the governor. The same method applies for the water pump.

Does your raw water pump slide up and down where it's mounted?

When I change that belt on my 4.5 BCG all I have to do is loosen the two bolts that hold the raw water pump in place and it slides up enough for you to put the belt over the pulley.
