We're set to be in Grand Haven 6/22-6/25 and from the looks of it, the municipal marina is open and the town is opening up. Restaurants are allowed to be open - but not sure the status of playgrounds, the splash pad, trolley or the musical fountain.

Can anyone update us on these?

We were going to spend the second half of the week in St. Joe, however the carousel and children's museum are closed until July at the earliest - so we are scrapping our trip there. I'm tempted to cross the lake and head to Wisconsin, however Discovery World museum in Milwaukee is still closed with no ETA.

Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. I'm not a fan of heading 100 miles to Grand Haven with nothing for the kids to do...so may just need to push it to July.

The real test starts today in Grand Haven I suspect.

This will be the first weekend with the eateries/bars opened back up. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Shops and the like should also be open. I don't think they have an ETA on the fountains yet. Playgrounds should be good to go.

I don't know about the splash pad but Spring Lake is in the 70's already and my kids have been in the water the past two weekends. Depending on wind direction the water in Lake Michigan is also almost swimable already.

I'd say there will be plenty to do. In another 10 days we should be 75% of the way back to normal out here on the water, high water not withstanding.

I took the fam into Grand Haven for lunch yesterday. It looks like the splash pad is indeed running. Everything is pretty well opened up. A silver lining of this covid situation is that they've closed parts of a couple streets to give space for outside dining.

Summer is short - make the run!

Awesome and thanks!

We've done some checking and it sounds like all is opened up but the trolley and the fountain. Trolley would be open if we delay until July 19th and the fountain is still up in the air.

I've got a black water leak I'll be trying to figure out today (after talking to the manufacturer - a tank crack or leak is doubtful), so we may just push it due to that. I'll keep you posted - should make a decision by tomorrow. Only 2 slips left for the dates we want in July.

Note that half of the city marina (if you are staying there) is filled with charter fishing boats, due to their pier being shut down. I would double check the DNR reservations site for slip availability. Otherwise, one of the local marinas may have openings.
Otherwise, town was pretty open. Some shops require a mask to be worn, but no big deal.
Enjoy!

That helps explain why there are only 2 slips left for the July dates we are thinking of! We've had a slip reserved for 5 months now.... you could say we've been itching to get back!

This was two boats ago, at the municipal, around the corner. Staying across from the fountain this trip.

Trip is a go - pending lake conditions. We've never ventured into Spring Lake...any advice? Fueled up at Wharf Marina last time - where's my best bet for fuel and a pumpout?

North Shore, Grand Isle, Barretts - they are all pretty much the same. Barretts (in Spring Lake) has been closed off and on this year due to high water.
