Isn't this cute. They even have a name for themselves. There must be full moon tonight as the lead troll and his toads have come out to honer us with their presence. I thought 2010 would be a good year for clus sea ray and we would lose the draining hull core on the main page. Guess not.
Happy new year.

Note that Oak Trees don't have wings. I guess that makes them "w1ngless".

What's a clus, anyway?

Let me rephrase that. I would have kicked the members that may or may not have boats but don't contribute boating posts to the site to the curb. I didn't mean those boatless. Many just post crap.

Thanks Nehalennia; Seriously I myself think when a bunch gets together there will always be some screwing around. On these Forums there needs to be a place for that like a Tiki Bar, Holding Tank or lounge of sort. Other places reserved for more serious topics.... Sound as thow I'm talking of a perfect world.... I do see your point of atracting a certain
type of poster to ie:CSR and then the Smack spills from the Holding Tank to tech specific areas. ...Ron

Story Time: Way back when I bought my hot rod I hung out on anouther forum ls1.com. The Smack really got bad for a few. The site turned mostly Smack and I had to bail with others to a new site ls1tech.com. This new site went through the same evolution over about the same amount of time. Both were set up similar to CSR with a few places to hang and other places to talk specific tech. Not sure how to filter it, or if it can be. JMHO ... Im out for the year ...Ron

I don't mind some of it some of the time, but there are guys here that that's all they do.

Some like an Oaktree, just sit and wait to stir up the sh*t with nothing valuable to say. Just has a root growing out of his ass.

IMHO - Most of us know who post the valuable info and who is just posting BS. Most of the time the BSer will get baned ASAP. So please just give it some time.

Here's a perfect example of what is wrong with CSR. Jim continues to let trolls like this idiot crash the party becuase everyone is a potential customer. Seems a bit short-sighted, how much have the trolls actually spent at BOE, vs. the ones that have left?

But what do I know, I'm a toadie after all...

Now that’s a little unfair isn’t it? I don’t think you should be putting the blame on the site, if there is any blame at all. Like it or not being on the Internet makes this a “social” forum just like any other. This one just happens to be about boats and also is world wide with over eleven thousand members. All types of people from all walks of life communicating through a keyboard, which by the way is easy to hide behind. A little tough to police when it is open to all don’t you think. Also, as a network forum if all this is just questions and answer mode on Sea Rays then it is going to get pretty damn boring. I am sure that when members of CSR get together in person all the talk does not center on boats, which would make for a dull party.

There are many cases were even very good questions get there answers as well as a little entertainment with some laughs throw in the middle. So what, what is the big deal anyway? Now if you’re going to get into full blow arguments with name call and threats then that is a whole different manner. But remember it takes two to argue and any one can call it off anytime. I have been on the site for awhile now and it is very clear who the “Ass Clowns” are even when they are banned and come back with a new handle. Their communication style gives them away and their attempts to incite and disrupt don’t bother me in the least.

The site is not broke, maybe a little more moderation needed, but not broke. It will go on as well, that is unless Jim gets fed up with the crap and pulls the plug. At this point I would not blame him.

BTW Happy New Year:thumbsup:

Hmmm. Looks like Skip's site is down for the holiday,

Overall, I agree with Bill. And I applaud his posts in general over the last month.

I personally think that any internet site has to be self policing to a certain degree. I am OK with the level of moderation that Jim and crew have provided. If he was to moderate out 75% of the "trolls", then he also would have had to moderate much more of the things spewed forth by the "technical posters" that have hit the highway. Some of the technical posters seem to draw the trolls like flies on poop.

As for "Compensation". I hear where you are coming from. Please continue posting under your new name. The community will probably be better off for your input. I do not post my real name on ANY internet forum on which I post. The email account associated with this forum does not have any personal commercial or personal activity associated with it. That just makes sense in this day and age. . right? No security is perfect, but that is what I do. I probably put too much information on this forum for my own tastes. . .but sometimes nothing ventured nothing gained.

I know some others here have posted under multiple aliases. That is simply uncool. I think it is unethical. But that is my personal view. . .and this is not my site and I have no interest in imposing my views upon others (expressing my views is something else!)

Personally, I have spend considerable money at BOE. Far, far, beyond the membership that I held last year, but have since let lapse.

This coming from a guy whose only contribution to this site has been to get Skippy out of a jam by buying his old boat.
And now an insult to the site owner...

Gives a bad name to toadies everywhere.

Boy, that is certainly the pot calling the kettle black................

What content have you ever provided on this site, other then negative and bitter sniping from the sidelines?

My head hurts way too much for any of this today. I'm going to surf some boat porn on Sea Ray's website in preperation for the NY Boat Show.

You know Frank this site is about interacting, not providing encyclopedic information. Anyone can open a book a get that. And from certified experts and technicians, not a bunch of know-it-all wannabes whose only interest is to stroke their own egos or promote their blogs. Sometimes that interaction includes personal anecdotes and, shudder the thought, inaccurate information!
This site stopped being informational when the self proclaimed elite began ridiculing the average poster for "imperfect" input and detered those from contributing "imperfect" thoughts.
This place can only improve in their absence.
