Well did Some of the Better Technical Posters leave CSR?

I'm not sure what the answer here is, but I'm certain it isn't to have people like Frank, Gary and a few others stop contributing. I have gotten valuable advice from each of the aforementioned and hope to have them continue as a resource. If not I'll just resort to the age old, tried and true method of paying to solve my boat related questions, but, I won't have near the same fun or education that way. It always seems that it's those that could benefit most from the wisdom of others are the least likely to appreciate it.

+1. I'm always amazed how many threads seem to go off track in CSR. How hard is it to take advice from people that seem to have solid meaningful experience and simply move on? Yes, I'm over simplifying, but people like Frank, Gary, etc. have taught this semi-newbie many things I would never have figured out on my own in the beginning.

Ok I just read the whole story. Sat down with a beer, got to post #88 "Ass Clown" and got anouther beer. Finished the read, got anouther beer and did a search for ass clown. 55 thread hits. Looked through a couple with very few responces and found clown and ass, but no "ass clown". Sure am glad this all went on in the Tiki Bar. cheers to all ... happy new year ... Ron

PS ... I really need the 2010 boating season to start

That has been part of my education here on CSR, increasing my vocabulary. Just have not found the opportunity to use it.

I hate being called a troll...

I need to get into Skip's forum I guess.

There's going to be one angrier wife in XXXXX --[some coastal location] if she sees that post!

This has been a great site from day 1 when I got here for me. I enjoy Gary's, Skip's, Chuck's, and Franks advice and stories as much as most and think it would detract from the knowledge base here if they should leave. I miss Turtle's posts and a few of the missing guys but life goes on.

Personally, I know admittedly little, but appreciate alot of the info on here so let me just say "Thanks". Jim and these guys created a nice community here.

I think Frank and Gary have been written off this show. Likely just a special guest appearance as opposed to "recurring character."

I generally try to stay out of these sort of threads , as the door is open for flaming usually.

While the said poster who crossed the line with Gary is gone, at least with his previous login name, it is sad to have come to this. I had received a PM from said poster letting me know Gary's physical address and suggesting I send Gary a letter.

While it is no secret that Gary has pi$$ed down my back and I have pi$$ed down his ( I have never been the Doormat type), I certainly never would do such a thing as send anything via mail (or even PM) just because some jerk suggested I do it. Should we meet up at the dock with no history whatsoever, we would likely get along just fine. Maybe even with the History!

I have certainly said things I regretted and pi$$ed off a few others. Mostly due to late night Vodka and encouragement by others. Apologies have been sent when I realized the knee jerk responses that should have been better thought out before posting stupid replies.

I like this site very much as I learn alot by reading and occasionally can contribute a little. We all have a common love of boating and it is overall a great bunch of folks to hang with.

While others have chosen to leave, it is sad as they are part of the family here and have been kind enough to take the time to share their knowledge. I hope they all stay.

We all make mistakes folks, we are human, and can fess up to it when appropriate.

Said my peace and I have a New Years resolution to let bygones be bygones. I hold no grudges and hope this group can forgive any of my misbehaving of the past.

May you all have a bright and successful 2010 and many safe hours of boating.

Yea.... What he said!

I can't sift through all this crap. Can someone direct me to a boating site with real boat owners who want to share knowledge and experience? I would gladly pay to join a site like that.

Stick around, maybe you'll get an invite to one..

Well It's been a month. Since the debacle of the threatening letter, I have simply watched and purposefully abstained from replying to or starting anything. While I have had a few PMs from those noticing my absence I replied that I was not impressed with the way it was handled and lack of moderation and was enjoying the holidays. I'm not worried about the little nit pickin' back and forth banter,I just don't like that this site attracts trolls that devalue the info and I question the direction of the site.
I mentioned on the 28th of Nov (my last post) that whoever sent the letter was an idiot and I stand by that. They have run off some very heady, experienced men with resources and knowledge that most of us will one day need when we are fortunate enough to move onto bigger boats with more complicated systems.

I will still come around as there is still good info here that has been put out in the past. That said; watching over the last month leaves me seriously worried about some of the info being spouted lately.

Anyway, it's too bad that this has gone the way of SRO except for the fact she hasn't completely sunk yet.

I am so weary of this crap that I just feel like saying " I'm gone..........you guys can just figure it out by yourselves".
Frank: I have the answer. The Tiki Bar is a place for smack. A thread in other forums such a vintage crusers are more serious places to talk boat tech. I get off topic some times in the more serious threads screwing around but at age fity one, I still got some growing up to do. Its all good. cheers to you and all ... happy new year ... Ron

No it's a boating site, SeaRay specifically. Now that there are multiple times the members since it originated and grew 10 fold once SRO shut down, it's exponential growth of "smack" to sort through. If I had a site, I would kick have of the non-boating members to the curb.

Ouch?

I guess I'm a "toadie", as I agree with Todd/Frank/Frank. The inmates are running the asylum, congrads trolls, you win. I'm sorry Jim has taken the stance he has, but it is his site. I've refrained from posting as a result. As 2009 ends, so it seems the sun sets on CSR.

Here's to looking for a real change to believe in in 2010...

Let me rephrase that. I would have kicked the members that may or may not have boats but don't contribute boating posts to the site to the curb. I didn't mean those boatless. Many just post crap.
