re: iespelling - I think this is built into firefox maybe, I see it all the time.

There is a spell checker in Firefox, tools, options, advanced, it is on the general tab there.

Whew! Thank goodness Gary and his cronies are outta here! I mean, it's so much more "civil" around here....quiet to...yea...quiet! Much better...............yea thanks Arizona!

Thanks to a winter-time virus and the press of other things, I have been away from CSR for a few days. I find it interesting how quickly some of our contributions to your boating success are forgotten and and how quickly and childish the name calling and accusations are heaped on when one is away.

Thin-skinned? ....perhaps. Offended?........you bet; in fact, enough to take an extended break from CSR. Based on the lack of serious content, the ignored questions and wrong answers I've noticed on the forum in just trying to catch up, it seems like those of you who are here making the accusatory proclamations need to figure out how to step your game up.

Try making a contribution instead of just making noise.

Frank, I hope you read my post with ALOT of sarcasm. I miss the banter, I loved the smart alleck responces of Gary and others. Yes even when he poked fun at me.
I completly agree with your statement that thoes that did the crying need to step up their game and assume the role.

Frank,

I've missed your inputs, and as someone who is moving up to a 50' diesel (someday), I pay great attention to ALL your posts.

Thanks for all the help you've given me, and I hope when I need some more, you are around.

islandhopper...I also read your post as being negative towards "Gary and his cronies" and almost posted back against you but didn't as I am making an effort to not be "negative" on this site. I guess if you were being sarcastic it did'nt come thru to me on the first reading...typing on the internet forum can be a challeng

Here is an example of another negative post that does not belong on this site. I wish I could do something about it....

I don't usually get much involved in the non-boating stupidity but yours is a pretty odd post for your first one ....

It would seem, Mr. Dancer, if you are so competent on boat repairs then you should also learn to read.

I'll take the credit for the piece I wrote on Wet Cores that Jim used as an article. It explained that the repair was done by a Sea Ray dealer and was approved by Sea Ray. I just posted the photos and explained the process but gave no advice on how or what was done.

I do find it funny how these anonymous experts can shout criticism from the roof top when they have never even seen a wet core and have no clue how they are repaired unless they read it on the internet or in a magazine.

Frank,
I just got back myself from a work trip. Still trying to sort through the site.
Don't let the idiots get your goat as you well know they are just idiots.

Jack

Wow, that was quick.....Sulu got the shields up fast and Checkov blasted Dancer to smithereens before I could get back with the popcorn.

Got that right.......this all happened in the last 5 min before half of the Giants/Philadelphia game :smt009

Since this is the Tiki Bar and I've had a couple of adult beverages, I will humbly add my two cents here:

1) People who are not familiar with Sea Rays and could use some advice about what and what not to do with their boats are getting the shaft by these knucklehead issues. If you know what you are talking about and say so, no normal person is going to bash you for it. If you are recommending something that someone else knows is a bad idea, don't be pissed off they called you out on it and make this personal. This is supposed to be a positive forum for the discussion of Sea Rays, no?
2) I would really hope that the guys that have "been there and done that" do not leave because some idiot sent out messed up messages and emails. That's f-ing inexcusable and there should be a way to screen that nonsense out. That being said, the advice shared on this site is very much appreciated and a majority of people on this site are here to learn and share ideas. Please don't leave because of the ignorance of a few...

Two cents from somebody that has learned a lot and saved a bunch of money from this forum...

If forums are treated like life then there shouldn't be any problems. Our forums are just like any others I have participated on so I really don't think there are any issues within our control. Most of the discussion around here seems to focus on information needing to be 100% correct and it is unnacceptable and untolerable if anything less than 100% correct is given. On the internet folks, that just isn't going to happen. Am I the only one who realizes this?

So if I am correct and all info is not 100% correct then the issue is how do we correct the incorrect info. One member in this thread (Frank) likes to ignore the bad info and post the correct info instead. Because of his credibility around here most anybody will take his opinion over anything else. With Frank's technique there is never any controversy, and all sides leave the conversation a little better off for it. Same as would happen in real life, say on the dock talking with a bunch of boaters you don't know. Even if one of the strangers doesn't agree with Frank it won't be a big deal because Frank was nice enough about presenting his info.

Now on to the reason for this madness. We have another poster who puts out equally legit advice as Frank but in doing so will call those before him that put out bad info idiots, tards, morons, and many other words that I have forgotten. In doing so it takes away from his own credibility, makes all parties mad, and everybody generally leaves a little worse off for ever getting involved. Let's say this user was doing the same thing on a dock with a bunch of stranger boaters, calling strangers idiots and such to their face in front of their friends. Well, we can assume what might happen if he crosses the wrong guy. This is why none of us go around calling people we don't know idiots and tards to their faces.

So here are the two opposite ends of the spectrum for earning street cred on an internet forum. One works and has no consequences. Moral of the story, we should all be more like Frank. This is such an easy concept for me to understand, so I'm sorry if I am not more understanding of those that can't understand this. I'll try.

You forgot “Ass Clown”….. that was my favorite, but I am still trying to visualize that.

Good point with the final thoughts!
