While I have been around the CSR forum for several years now, I have not yet discussed this company publicly. A little background about us; over the last winter we officially started a new venture called Cove Marine and since then we have been specializing in products and services for Sea Rays (since we know and love them). So, I just wanted check in and thank Jim @ BOE, introduce our company and let others know that we are the people behind Cove Marine.

A little background behind our initial ad and offer; many times each year we have referred friends to (our now vendor partner) Great Lakes Boat Top - so it was only natural that we decided to officially become dealers for them. To this extent, if you have any questions or OEM canvas needs please feel free to reach out to me to discuss them. As shown in our ad we intend to offer discounts on a regular basis for CSR members. As I am not interested in creating a price war please contact me personally to discuss the available discounts and get a quote - based on our initial projects I am sure you'll be happy you did. For people local to us; we are also going to be offering an installation option for anyone not comfortable doing it.

As we already have plans for more products I will try to take some time to announce them as they become available. I would also like to thank all the members who have helped me along to way by offering advice and also to those who have purchased some of our products. This is definitely a great place to hangout online.

Welcome Kevin. A few of us have PMing each other about your ad and we're not sure what service you are offering? Is is custom canvas work including installation? Or a reseller for some/all Great Lakes products? Do you have your own shop and/or inventory of canvas covers? I understand you don't want a 'pricing war' but can you better describe who your targeted Searay customer is and why they should contact you vs. Great Lakes directly? Putting some of this into your website might also be helpful for us in understanding what Cove does? Good luck with the new venture!
 
Thanks for asking for a clarification, I will try to help.

We (Cove Marine) are dealers for the Great Lakes Boat Top Co. (GLBT) and we are authorized to distribute their products. I would like to think we add a little bit of personalized service to the process but you should know that the actual production of the product is by GLBT and if you are not local to us (Long Island, NY) we will ship direct to you from GLBT.

Cove Marine is a relatively new family run business (started over last winter and the reason for a sparse website) - we are also Sea Ray owners and have been using this forum extensively over the past several years both getting and giving advice. When we decided to become a site sponsor we wanted to have an offer that would both benefit the membership as well as our company. So, we decided to offer members of CSR a discount on all GLBT products without having to wait for them to run one of their sales.

Now, not to add to the confusion, but we also have side of the business that operates as a canvas/vinyl shop that handles fabrications, modifications, installations and repairs for customers local to us. Most of these clients are people who have heard about us via word of mount or from seeing our work. In fact a local CSR member could order the GLBT canvas and make arrangements for us to install.

Longer term it is our intention to offer our own "products". By this it might be something that we have fabricated for a custom job and felt that by already having designed the template that another person could benefit from it by simply ordering one. It could also be an item that we have heard repeated need for and decided to invest time and money in R&D. An example of this would be the custom marine dash panels that we offer that are cut to fit and fill the Ray215 VHF opening. This way when you want to replace with a newer smaller unit and fill the gap you do not need to fabricate your own - this item is being target towards DIYers as well as professional installers.

Back to one of your original questions - who is our target customer - for this ad and this offer - it would be Sea Ray owners and members of CSR that could benefit from a new canvas set that could be produced by GLBT (although we are not limited to Sea Ray by GLBT). I have always felt that the best way to build a business is to offer our clients a great value and by doing so I would hope that we will also benefit from the referrals.
