Hi all. So, my searay 300 with twin 350mag mpi horizons, starboard motor is giving me some weird problems. A month or so ago, it would start up, run for what ever amount of time, then I would shut if off to eat, swim or whatever. Then start it up, it would idle fine, usually coming out of a river or marina, whatever, then it would die. Try to start, wont idle, just start up, then die. Id limp home on the other engine, and in about 30 mins or so, would try to start again, still starts for a sec, and then dies. do it again in 5 min, dies, again, and do this 6 8 10 times, and finally, it will start up, idle fine, and back up on plane I go. Then runs fine, all the way home, up the river at idle, slip it with the motors back and forth in idle, no problem.
I already changed the fuel filters and the little cartridges below the filters. Its non ethanol gas, or supposedly. There are no other water separators or filters. Lines look ok. It seems like a vapor lock or some other fuel starvation issue, but I cannot figure it out. sometimes it doesnt happen at all. as a matter of fact, I changed the filters two trips ago, and it didnt happen at all after that, only today. But, when I stopped the motors, we did stay at that spot for a while, so the engines did have time to cool off. Btw, no alarms go off when it dies, just dies.
what you guys think.
