I am just full of questions! It looks like the dry weight of the 300 Weekender changed very little from the late 70's to the late 80's (she gained 100 pounds). However; from 1989 to the next model in 1992 she lost 2,600 pounds! From a dry weight of 9,600 to only 7,000. I realize that the standard power in '89 was an inboard while in '92 it was a stern drive; but surely that can't account for a 2,600 pound weight change.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost certain the 90's model year weekender were smaller. I believe the 30' model in the 90's only had a 10'6" beam instead of 11'. That would help account for the weight loss.

also in the 90s a 300 was 30' loa including pulpit and platform
where in the 80s a 300 was about 31'6" or so.

I am sure all of these things are part of it but 2,600 pounds in almost a third of the '89's weight (27%). The boat would almost have to be 8 feet shorter!!! Is this a case of a solid hull v. a balsa core hull?

Could it as be that in 1990 Brunswick took over the building of Sea Ray boats? 30' was no longer a 30' boat, and as Shaun pointed out she got skinny, losing 4". Less fiberglass, lighter engines, less teak, the list goes on. I like my fat heavy boat, it took 18 years to find a true Sea Ray boat at this ones price. I wouldn't trade her for a new one, but I would trade her for a 34' or better of the same years.

OK! That settles it! It's an '89 or earlier for me. I was unaware that Sea Ray had sold out in '90. Thanks for the info. I'm learning a lot!!!!!!!!

PS: Since I am fat and heavy also, I'm sure I would love your boat! Let me know when you find that 340!

Oh....I found one, but I just bought this boat. The wife would divorced me if I changed up this soon. Check out Hampton Marine Services, 1989 34' Sea Ray. This thing is mint!

Your killing me......then she would ;) younger models are a pain....I'll keep the one I have

I am a newbie and just traded for a 1976 sea ray 300 weekender/ sport bridge. I have even heard it run yet. I took the guys word that both engins ran great. The manual shows it is 9500 lbs. The gunwale length is 30' 11" The centerline length is 29' 7" The Beam is 11' 6" I think the newer Sea Rays are a lot less weight, shorter and not as wide. I may want to sell the 3 axle trailer. I have a 1999 Sea Ray 230 in Texas. I will be selling it cheap. We are selling the home in Texas and will be living in Az. full time. I live only 11 miles from the lake here in Az. I know i will be asking a lot of questions about this boat. Thats if any one has one this old. I probably just traded for a money pit. LOL later guys. gambler85gw@hotmail.com

Is it a sedan and a sedan bridge? The sedan comes in at 10,400. The Sedan bridge 10,800. That's straight from the 1976 SeaRay handout on that boat. I hope you got one heck of a deal... or had it surveyed

I just found another 76 Weekender that was listed at 9800
