My wife and I would like to take a weekend trip to another lake in the area before the summer is over.

We can spend the night on ours but a clean shower and toilet (if possible) is requested by Catherine.

Can any of you recommend a nearby lake (within 1-2 hours) this can be done at?

It would be great to have any of you join us if you're interested. We would like to leave on a Friday after work and return Sunday by supper time, some time between now and October 1st.

Casey, I'm always in the mood for a boat trip. I think it may be tuff to find a transient slip in these lakes around here, let alone one that has showering facilities. :smt101 Being from Fla. I can't grasp why it's like that. If the wife would like to trial run, ya'll could tie up at our employee docks one weekend with me. We have showers and bathroom facilities, and kids play ground. You've probably seen our docks at the Catawba power plant. I like to kick back there and grill out and such.
Also I'm trying to put together a trip from Georgetown to Charleston down the intercoastal. May be the last weekend in Aug. Well let me know. Later Mike

Absolutely. Smith Mountain Lake, Virgina ... near Roanoke.
A few forum mebers have done it and all have loved the lake!! It is about four to five hour drive from Wylie. 22,000 acres and over 500 miles of shoreline with great views of Smith Mountain and the Blue Ridge. Priceless sunsets too.

Lot's of marinas (13) and things to do. Crystal clear water, very deep lake in almost all parts, only very few really tricky shoals, state park and many, many coves to hang out on anchor. Also a large public sand beach with docks.

Read Aquaia's posts. He went there on my recommendation and really liked it. I recommended a hotel that has free slips for guests. You can directly go from your room to the slip just outside the hotel.
