So, next weekend we (Carolina Boaters) are planning a meet up. Starting Friday 13th, at Charleston Harbor Marina. We'll probably hit Shem Creek for a seafood dinner. Lounge around the docks friday night. Saturday cruise south toward Beaufort down the ICW to an anchorage spot. Meet up with some other members, and raft up. Have a pot luck supper, and socalize the evening story telling and having a few cocktails. Sunday head back home.

So, just thought I'd put it out there, if anybody wanted to join at the last minute. Come on!

Ya'll know the rules....if we don't get to see the photos the trip didn't happen.

Have fun, be safe out there and, oh, did I mention to have fun?

What an awesome weekend. The weather was perfect, the scenery was nice, and the ICW was full of boats moving around. ALOT of sail boats. I'm an ex sailor, but dang it. I don't remember being a jerk to power boaters. I passed about 30ish sail boats on my 30 mile trip south. Some of them were very cool, and slowed to allow for a no wake pass. But some of them just ignored me. So I gave them what they asked for. haha
You know, power boats don't really slow for other power boats, (except to cross the wake, when your a small boat). But that doesn't irritate me, and not one other power boater gave me the one finger salute.

The age old question, why do sail boats (under power) think they are due any more consideration than power boats?

Anyways, as it turns out about 15 of the sail boats end up anchoring in the same creek as "we" did. Now for another observation, "we" rafted up and had a big time. Visited each others boats, and had a pot luck supper aboard one of the larger boats. A 37 Tug (Sadler) that belongs to one of the members here, that just switched to that style of boat. What a beautiful boat. Awesome man!
The sail boats anchored by themselves, and didn't really visit each other. I didn't see them interacting with each other. BUT, they were a group. They came in together, and left together. Just wonder where's the fun in that? Oh well, to each their own. It just seems like it would be miserable to fuss at everyone on the ICW, to slow down the whole way there and back. Then not even visit with your companion boats. Why oh why don't they take those "ocean" boats out in the OCEAN! haha That's where I took mine.

So, GFC....I'll work on loading some pictures. As someone said before, why is it so hard to post pics here, verses say FB? Can't we get a picture friendly system?

Can't wait to see the pictures - Mike, did you take your 240?

Yep. The 240 is great on gas, and is easy to run at the coast. Eventually I'd like to take the Chris to the coast, possibly leave it there in a slip. Being an inboard, the Chris will tolerate the salt water better. It has a closed cooling system also. The 240 doesn't have closed cooling. So I have to flush the motor every time I take it to the coast...well, I back it into Mountain Island lake on the way home, and run the motor and a/c system to flush it before I put it away in it's building.
