My 7 year old Dometic Cruisair STX12-410A AC unit's capillary copper line rubbed against the compressor canister and wore a hole therefore turning the unit into a brick. That's some bad luck. So looking at a replacement unit was wondering if anyone here has a Webasto FCF air condition unit and if so your experience with it?

We love Webasto. Most efficient, quiet units out there. It cools and heats better than our units. We have 3

Wore a hole in the copper? Or the compressor? Why not repair it? Copper is easily soldered...and even a steel compressor housing can be repaired with 45% silver solder. We do it in the field all the time in the HVAC/Refrigeration world. After repair pull a vacuum and recharge. Any good HVAC mechanic could fix this for you.

Wore a hole in the copper capillary line. Except I haven't been able to find a good HVAC mechanic that will repair a capillary line and the three I have spoken to have said that when air is sucked into the line the oil turns to acid which will damage the system. Here is a pic...

What a crock of crap....if that were the case we’d never be able to repair a leak on any refrigeration system. They just want to sell you a new system. I’d keep looking for a A/C mechanic...doesn’t have to be a boat A/C guy either. Ask your friends if they have a A/C guy in their back pocket. Somebody you know has to know a HVAC technician LoL

BTW....they sell acid removal products.
