Hi, I have 340 Sundancer, with 270 Mercury Airdeck dinghy on weaver davits. The dink stands up on it's side when secured, so I need to take my 6hp outboard on/off each time I launch it. Well, the back is starting to ache these days, so I was looking at the Hurley Marine site (on a recommendation from a friend). Looks like you can leave the engine on (dink sits flat and 40% hangs over end of platform), but doesn't look overly secure, especially if cruising in 4-5 ft rollers. I imagine you also need a cover, so you don't end up with a small swimming pool on the transom after a nice rain! Any rough-water experiences with Hurley? Or any other alternatives (aside from installing hydraulic platform!!)?

I had the weavers on my 26 and felt the same pain (taking outboard on and off each time). I have Nautley's now. Dink stays flat and engine stays on. If secured properly, it is fine in rough seas. Great solution for our size vessel and needs. It can be a challenge to pull up, depending on the height from swim step to water...

The Nautley is just great! No problem in rough seas.
I have a very low platform and pulling the tender up is a breeze! ...but always remember to take the dinghy's plug out

I too have the Nautley DinghyRamp, it's a great system and works well in rough water as long as it's properly tied down. I have a Mercury 280 hard bottom and I really like the set up. My swimplatform is high off the water and retrieving the dinghy is a challenge but I manage by myself, if you have help it's a breeze. I have a cover for my dinghy but if you remove the plug you will have no water issues. Remember weight is the issue on retrieving the dinghy, my dinghy is 90 lbs and my outboard is 83lbs, anymore and I couldn't do it myself.

I have Hurley and is very good too

I have had both the Hurley and the Nautley,

I now have the Nautley HD Dinghy ramp with the rollers, http://www.dinghyramp.com/dinghyram...ntent/uploads/2008/04/dinghyramp_hdplus_1.jpg .....and really like how easy it is to load....

Reason I went with Nautley was that they had the rollers...I have a 9'6 AB dinghy with the fiberglass bottom so they is a little more weight...Makes it easy for me to load even with the motor attached 9.8 hp:thumbsup:..

The height of the platform is the key in rough seas.I have had Weaver and back then they did not have a roll on system but they never did corrode.Hurley was great but almost lost the dinghy and motor twice(heart failure) trying to retrieve. Also corroded within one season.
Two seasons ago went with St.Croix roll on system and put a power winch in the transom locker...works pretty darn good and the system has 4 inch wheels that gives the dinghy extra height off the water. The only complaint I have is their stainless sucks, rusts al the time and is a pain in the a.. to polish.Nice people to deal with though.
I keep a 10/6 AB with 20 hp power tilt on the back and works well.

Awesome! thanks all for the feedback. Will have to check out the Nautley. Will post pic when done!
