Weather

Lots of rain here Saturday, more rain yesterday, sunny today (Richmond, VA). We have a 5+ hour cruise scheduled over Friday and Saturday, so hopefully no snow!

We are currently getting a lot of rain with mixed snow and sleet in North Jersey. The weatherman says 50MPH gusts of wind are headed our way, particuarly at the Jersey Shore. I just called my marina and they are flooded.. Very High tide from winds pushing water in.. And my boat is still in the water :smt089. The slip is pretty tight and the docks don't float, so its almost impossible to set the lines without hanging the boat in a low tide or letting it hit a piling at high tide. I know the boat is probably bouncing off a piling right now. Well at least the market is up.. for now..

Woke up to -5 this morning. This is a little early, but at least the rivers will get a good solid freeze for the snowmachines (my SR on tracks).

We have had 30 inches of snow to date although some of that had melted early on. It's going to be a long winter!!:smt009

The other night we had 45MPH winds, rain and sleet blowing sideways. It was pretty much ideal weather for watching the world series by a roaring fire. It was pitch black out and all of the sudden someone knocked on our door. We live in a heavily wooded area and no car pulled into our turnaround so the person either came through a path in the woods or arrived by water. Turned out to be a guy who looked a little rough and had pulled into one of our slips in an unlighted 17' Larson that had "conked out." He wanted to leave the boat there overnight and pick it up in the daylight. Why the he## would anyone be out on a night like that? He picked the boat up the next day, although I have no idea when this happened as I was at work by the time it got light. Kind of spooky.

We will be going from floaters to fixed docks for a while as of this weekend. That is one of my concerns, unexpected high/low water and winds. Oh well, at least she will be in a covered slip.

What a difference a few days makes.....It's been in the 70's here and we have had boats going by the house enjoying the fall colors. The trees are still fabulous although the leaves are really starting to fall.
