Larry where in New York can you get gas in less than two hrs ? I live on Long Island and work in the 5 Boros i haven't seen a line shorter than a few miles long at any station that was open. It's so bad I'm taking the car from work home because we can't get gas for our personal cars.

I am down at south jersey AT my parents and there are no gas lines down here. Lower than exit 5 on the turnpike and its like nothing happened. Also you can go to Easton pa. They have plenty of gas and no lines. Still no power at my house.

Joe, we are running up to Sullivan County NY, but I believe you can get fuel in Orange County as well...

Gas never showed at the Freeport armory! Hundreds of cars on line and no tankers.

I've been driving to Toms River almost every day and the fuel becomes more and more available. Tonight I got fuel with NO line at all.

IMO, Northern Fork of LI should be in much better shape and I don't buy it that there's no fuel. There's always an option, as Larry said, go to CT (just hop on the ferry) with a load of gas cans.

Gas lines in my area are still almost 2 miles long. Pulled 40 gallons out of the boat today. Filled the family up to go to work

The lines in my area are very long as well. Toms River is about 45min drive for me, but I get fuel without a lot of pain. Obviously I'm using this trip for different tasks, not just getting fuel, but it works fine resolving the fuel issue. People from South NJ go to PA to get fuel.

  11. I heard from Capt.Wally & Sue today. All is fine with them. :smt038

    Carter,

No, I haven't. However I was told that boating traffic is no longer allowed in the Seaside area due to the fact that houses and all kinds of debris are underwater.

You need to send your heavy hauler trucker a LARGE Christmas present for getting that boat out of there ahead of the storm.

    Hi guys,

Wow, what crazy sh!t we are seeing here! Those pictures are unbelievable!! I believe that my boat survived. I texted my buddy at the marina and he said it looks good. I was afraid to use the gas to drive down there as we have had ridiculous lines up by me on the north shore. I saw some pics of my old marina and there were a few boats that sank. I know there was some damage at the north shore marinas but nothing like those disaster pics in the previous posts.

I lost power & cable early Monday at home and have yet to get it back. There are MANY poles down along with downed power lines & blown transformers! It's the worst I have ever seen it up here. I do feel very fortunate that I suffered no injuries to my family or property damage but the power issue is getting old. I had no cell service either at my home from Monday night until Thursday afternoon. Now throw in the gas crisis and my patience is beginning to run thin. But, seeing all of the devastation really puts things in perspective. If the gas issue improves I will be much relieved. I back fed my breaker panel and am able to run my heat, fridge and select outlets. Also am loving directv as cable wi be out a while longer. I also gave my neighbor a 20 amp line to plug his house into so he can run his fridge, lights and TV.

I am sorry to hear of the fellow members who have suffered loss in this disaster. My heart goes Out to you folks. I am glad though to hear that several of my friends here have persevered without loss including but not limited to: Joe, Havana Shamrock, Alex F,Russ Calasant, Ron , Rfagmy and Brian, Bmac.
Steve (cod), I hope your home and boat survived. I will be watching to see.
I have to say this thread was like reading a horror novel. I sat down and read it from the beginning today. I was saddened by the pics and then waited for each member to chime in with their status. Joe, you had me on pins and needles when you first posted about your boat. I told my wife you may have lost it and she was upset as was I. Glad to hear that wasn't the case.
Jonathan, Xplicit, I don't know you personally but joe says good things about you and I am glad to hear your damage is minimal. I also want to say I find it very commendable how you have offered to help Others as you are among the devastation yourself! That is a real class act! I look forward to meeting you this summer when we will all drink a few beers and talk of how we dodged a bullet.
Best of luck to all others out there struggling through the aftermath of this devastating storm!

Well thank you very much greatly appreciate it. Although I have yet to help to many (nobody really wanted it) I have donated to the csr relief fund and am sending blankets sweatshirts and so on to si. Just a little very sad story from yesterday. My father is a firefighter out of Manhattan. He was stationed in si yesturday to help with the cleanup. He called me about 5pm hysterical crying. Well he was going through debris and found a young girl with arm flootys on. Sadly she had passed away in the storm. Just heartbreaking. When he walked in the door last night after his shift he was a mess. He had the same look on his face as he did when returning home after 2weeks at ground zero loosing 75percent of his firehouse. (A look I will never forget) this just pushed me a little more. So starting as soon as I can (pending work) I will be taging along with him on his shifts. Train to manhatten and on his fire truck to si to be by his side and help clean up. He says there are children animals and people everywere something the news has yet to show. He explained it as describing a third world country and just sad. I'm asking people tojust please b generouse and use your good fortune to help others.

He travels with his wife - they got a LARGE "gratuity" from me. Had it not been for his extraordinary effort, I believe that I would have owned One Sweet Day for only 10 days and would have been making an insurance claim.

My apologies if I posted this before, It has been a long week. My shore house neighborhood was completely flooded, my house flooded, my deck and pool ruined (and not covered by insurance) I have been with out power for 6 nights. Thankfully my family and my boat are fine, but my dreams and plans have been changed. The NJ coastline has been devestated by Sandy. This video starts in Brick NJ, moves over to to BayHead then heads south to Mantoloking, Normady, Chadwick Beach and then heads back over to Brick. The houses on the ocean (around the 1 minute mark) were valued at 4 to 7 million each (go to zillow and check it out) . I still have my house which is more than most. My boating neighborhood has been devestated and Barnegat Bay has a very long (and expensive) recovery ahead.
