We have 4 boats going to Cutty for fireworks weekend. We are headed there on Friday 8/2 and leaving Sunday 8/4. Should be a fun weekend. I won’t have my kids there as there at at camp that weekend but my friends will have theirs so there will be kids to play with. Come on over and say hello if you are there. I know there are a few of us floating around on here from the area and though it would be a good time to catch up.
Cuttyhunk Marina opened up reservations on Dockwa today.

Did that last year. We loved it even bought a T-shirt. They do a little street fair too. We ran into a celebrity in the harbor and convinced him to stay for the fireworks. Wonder if anyone can guess who he is.

This was sent to me from Cuttyhunk Marina. Looks like they been fixing up the place a little and Jeremy won’t need to grill in the rocks anymore!

Season's Greetings from Cuttyhunk!
Hello All,

As the Season falls upon us, I would like to take this time to wish everyone Happy, Healthy and Safe Holidays. It is a time when we surround ourselves with family and friends and reflect on how fortunate we are to have such.

On another note, during the past 2018 boating season, a number of improvements have been completed in the Marina. The south end of the Fish Dock area was rebuilt and also widened to the west to create a lounging space with tables and seating for patrons to utilize. Also, a deck was constructed at the east side of the Marina parking lot which makes another great spot to have lunch or enjoy your favorite beverage while watching the boat traffic in the harbor.

The grilling stand project is finally completed. The stands are constructed of stainless steel and the table tops are of countertop height. The tables also have a windscreen and sit on a rotating 360deg. locking bezel which allows the user to face the windscreen in any direction the breeze may be coming from.

Its Richard Trethewey of This Old House fame! One of my favorite shows as a kid all the way through until I decided it was easier (but certainly not cheaper) to just hire contractors!

We have seen him and the Silva Brothers multiple times at boating events. I forget which one has what but one of the two brothers have a Tiara 50. First time we saw Tom Silva was a the Boston Boat show in 2007 or 2008. Ironically we first met Tom Silva while we were aboard the 44 Sundancer that Sea Ray had at the show that year! At that time it was our dream boat!

ahhhh Cuttyhunk - one of my all time favorite destinations. We may swing by one of the days if we stay local, were just across the bay!

Wouldn’t mind heading that direction with a flotilla of boats this summer. And the dates are good.....hmmm.

We'll be there for fireworks weekend also. I look forward to seeing the palatial new yacht Jeremy! Pam and I will be in the same 340DA that we had when we rafted up with you guys at Block Island, but it'll look like a dinghy to you now :)

That would be great. It would be good to see everyone again.

This is starting to feel like the 2019 CSR Northeast Flotilla thread forming...

Exactly, Ron and i were cruising the harbor in the dinghy and i looked over and said..."look its Richard". Ron said..how do you know him... I was a little starstruck as i too grew up watching "This Old House". He is a very nice guy similar to what you see on the show. Looks like he's loving life.

Our plan is to hit MV again this year however we are aiming for Nantucket. Not sure if that weekend would find us going or coming but we will see if could work it out so that we can make the stop. Its one of our favorite locations. We stay in the mooring field which is first come first serve and last year we found that for the fireworks the inner mooring field fills up by around 3pm on Friday. I'm not sure how many they allow rafting on a mooring but sounds like it would be a nice spot for a meetup.

It's not just the 4th that the inner moorings fill up by 3pm, its every day from July 4th through end of August. If the wind is predicted out of the NE the mooring field is filled up all day as all the boats in the outer harbor just cruise around waiting for open moorings!

Two boats are allowed per mooring, but the mooring field is very tight so I would say the max beam between the two should be well under 25'. Most nights you'll find more than half the moorings are rafts. There is no where inside that is large enough for a big raft, and the holding is horrible even if there was.

Its a tough place to plan for a large group unless a big portion of the group wants the docks which are more full than they have been the last 10+ years but still not as active as they were in the 80's.

Nantucket is also a lot of fun we enjoy it but it's not the cheapest destination! The mooring service is really good, and a "bargain" compared to the Boat Basin pricing. We always take the dinghy up the harbor to the beach most days as our daughter isn't ready for surf yet. The aquarium between the dinghy dock and the town is also cool for the kids.

The Boston Pops play on Jetty beach every year on Nantucket, it is a lot of fun to see. They set up a stage at the inshore side of the beach and then people just bring coolers and beach chairs, blankets and watch the show. We will be there for it again this year, it is a cool weekend to be on Island. The pops play on Saturday Aug 10th. We will Be in Nantucket 8/8-8/11.
