This is what 7" from the all time Lake Michigan high water level looks like at our dock. Just a few years ago we were at the lowest level in recorded history. At that level we could step down off the roof of our boat to the dock and needed the ladder to get down to boarding level. Boat looked like a little dinghy in its slip. Remarkable how lake levels change. Trillions of gallons of water involved. We should see a 4" increase in the next 30 days. Water is currently about 8' deep under the anchor.

It's going to be interesting! Our marina parking lot was flooded a few days ago. As you mentioned, seasonal peak levels are still a ways off. I expect to have wet feet quite often this season.

I like high levels, but this is a bit much. We had an extended period of time when our deck was at the same level as the dock. Then it went down so much we sat in our lower cockpit looking up at the underneath side of our dock. At that level you could walk in front of our boat without getting your feet wet!

It is a nightmare for our marina as many of our finger piers are under water. They are talking about how to raise the docks.

The scuttlebutt in 2013 was they were going to need to dredge.

Just need about 12 inches of downward relief...

At our marina (Georgian bay Lake Huron) the ramps from shore to the floating docks slant up. The deck level of the docks is now higher than the land. Weird. We lost a lot of beach at the cottage too.

This spring we’ll have to be vigilant to watch for floating debris from the river flooding all around us.

It's pretty incredible.

I wonder what will happen with some of the homes along Lake Michigan this year. There were quite a few getting precariously close to cliff edges last year down near Saugatuck. They have to be super nervous right now...

I noticed the same thing north of Grand Haven and just south of PJ Hoffmaster park. Would not want to own real estate near there.

Now we will be able to park the Dinghy on the wall in Grand Haven and step out onto the sidewalk. :)

Right now my flotating jet ski docks are about 8 inches above my finger docks for my boats, I don’t think there will be a problem docking our Baja but I am worried about the Sea Ray I am not sure the pilings and 4x4s will be above the rub rails looks like I’ll be stepping up about a six inches to step onto the swim platform. But I am better off then one of my neighbors their docks are completely under by a good foot.

Last summer the ramps from the sea wall to the floating docks in Charlevoix were nearly level with the main docks. My guess is this year the ramps will be uphill to the main docks.

We have seen a home fall after the lake took the sand of the dunes it was built on 2 season ago. It was let go in foreclosure and now someone is trying to get the land rebuilt to build on it again. Many homes along the shore look perilously close to the edge.
