two hours of buffing, polishing and waxing. Port side below the rub rail looks much nicer. Monday I will finish the starboard side. My shoulders are killing me...

I know the feeling I do mine in the fall, and I remind everyone “I’m the friend with the boat”, gets me nowhere!

I've only made it to my boat once this winter so far. And sadly...unwaxed she remains. The clock is ticking now! Good times.

Will start mine here soon. The blizzard today makes me wonder why I don’t move south.

Hull is done, and topside is polished. I will wax hopefully next weekend, and will be done with this chore. Then it's onto other small projects until she's launched in April.

@hakunamatata We did our 400 Dancer over the past couple of weekends (not too far south of you). I know there are lots of threads here about the right way to wax, best buffer, etc. We used a couple of inexpensive Ryobi buffers. They are about $30 and really lightweight so we didn't get tired.

I know that the more expensive buffers are recommended, but these seemed to work well for our purpose, and probably helped prevent the soreness that you are suffering. We bought them last summer to restore faded gelcoat on our 24', and they worked well so we used them for our 40' as well. For $30 it might be worth a shot to save you some work.

tiara in the snow 01.JPG I'm waiting to see how much I owe in taxes before checking on the aft curtain project. We have two boats stored so close to us that waxing will need to take place when boats begin to move in the coming weeks. To do list:Taxes. Canvas. Wax. Launch.

I can fully understand the “stored too close”. I’ve been into the storage building twice in the last week to wax. It is really cramped but I’m getting the job done. First year storing at Grand Isle Marina. Previous years in Holland had much more room. The unfortunate part is there is no alternative to buffing from rub rail down. Ya gotta wait until the boats been pulled and they move it inside immediately.

When I have my boat pulled in the Fall, I have the marina put it on stands in the lot so I can get the hull acid washed and waxed. some times they change $100, worth it !

Why would you acid wash the hull?... are you talking about the paint or sides

I always have the sides of mine acid washed. Removes old residual polish, stains and oxidation. No need to compound and just apply polish. I use Dulon which is a two part polish and sealant.

interesting...i did not know acid would remove oxidation on the hull....does it work on heavily oxidized gelcoat?....what type of acid is used?....

Wow, waxing threads in Feb! It will be months before I cut the shrinkwrap. Indoor storage must be a wonderful thing to prepare and get projects done for the season.
