I shrink wrap my boat, since most of the boat is covered by the wrap and of course it get cleaned and waxed in the spring what do you recomend for winter cleaning.

Thanks
Jack

Wash boat down with Serious Marine Cleaner made by Yacht Brite. It will remove all black marcks paint gook of all sorts and strip all last years old wax so you can start again in spring. Try using the Buff Magic product(recommended by Sea Ray). It is all co-polomer based and has no waxes to build up and turn yellow. I guarantee you'll love it. It can be found inexpensivly at www.marinediscounters.com

When I had my last two Sundecks, I always used the fall season to get my boat immaculate before I put it up for winter. I cleaned the boat inside and out as well as polished and waxed it.

I thouroughly cleaned the engine and all bilge areas. I used Simple Green and hosed it all down and let it dry. I cleaned the seats thoroughly as well. I use Spray Nine available at Home Depot, Lowes, or most Marine Supply stores then I spray the seats with 303 Protectant. I removed the carpeting and pressure washed it. And I would use one of the "Quick Wax" spray detailers to do all the fiberglass inside the boat. On the hull and deck I used a good quality polymer product to protect the shine. There are many choices here and you can find everyone's opinions on those products in past postings if you do a search on "polish" or "polishing".

Of course there are a myriad of other details to worry about as well such as general servicing of engine and outdrive, winterizing, getting things out of the boat, general clean-up of things like life preservers, water toys, etc.

My philosophy was to put the boat away without having to worry about it's condition come spring. That way when spring came it was only necessary to remove the cover and go boating.

I see you live in NY and the weather is probably starting to get cold now that the cold weather is moving east from the midwest. We boat until the time the weather starts to get nasty and then the boat goes right into heated storage. Aside from doing a very good job of cleaning the inside of the boat (head, galley, stripping linen, etc.) all we do on the outside of the boat is a very deep cleaning of the cockpit, hardtop and hull. I will do that this afternoon when the temps warm up to the 50's. Tomorrow morning I will drive the boat over to our marina into a Travel Hoist at 8:30. The marina staff will power wash the bottom and the boat will go right into storage. I will dry every part of it and it will be very clean. Then in January I wax everthing above the rub rail and finish up the hull in April when the boat is moved outside.
