Sea Ray 400DB with a 8.0BTD Westerbeke Generator. I would like to put a water temperature gauge on the electrical panel in the salon to monitor the generator motor water temperature as well as leave the existing gauge on the engine in the black hole (engine room). I tried just hooking up a digital gauge in parallel with the existing Westerbeke gauge but no go. I guess the sender is specific to the Westerbeke gauge. There is nowhere to add a sender in the water line and I am wondering how I can do this. Would I have to add a hose adaptor or is there a gauge that will work with the Westerbeke sender and gauge? Not a lot of room down there to add a hose adaptor.

Well, according to the "experts" at NAPA the transducers are either specific to the gauges or can not feed more than one gauge - I can not get a real answer. So what I will do is simply install a hose adapter in the hose from the engine block to the fresh water tank and install a sender and gauge from there. I understand that the generator has safety cut-off switches (low oil pressure and high water temperature) built in but being able to monitor the water temperature while the generator is running without having to clear the cockpit to get down in the black hole will give me a heads up on the condition of the generator I think. Thanks everyone who peeked in.

Maybe you can remove the original sender and install a brass tee, then add additional sender. Not sure if this would alter the original "reading" on the original sender, but probably not.

Problem is that the Westerbeke sender will only address the Westerbeke and if I put a tee in both senders have to be touching water to give a readout and there is no way to put in a tee such that two senders touch water. I tried to put a hose adapter in line but there is not enough room for the hose adaptor (the hose is short and bent at 90 degrees. I am trying to find a hose adapter that has a 90 degree bend but they are rare as hens' teeth. Looks like I may have to just put the second sender on the wish list for now as I do not see any extra fittings or plugs either in the fresh water line or on the engine block that I can add a sender. Any ideas out there?
