water tank

My friend bought a 31 foot Sundancer about a month ago. We followed the manual for filling and cleaning the water tank. It worked fine at first but now we get no water at all. From what the indicator shows there is water in the tank. We cleaned the filter too. I am looking for suggestions.

1. The obvious reply is to make sure your water pump is working. Does the water sputter out of the faucet at all? Sometimes you can get an airlock in the water system before the pump which will make it not work. You will need to bleed the system.

2. Has the pump burned out, broken, or has the breaker popped? Have somebody get within ear shod of th epump then turn on the breaker. If you can't hear the pump start making noise one of the above is your problem.

3. If all this checks out it is possible your water pickup tunbe in the tank has failed. I have seen problems here before, but rare.

Good Luck, let us know what you figure out.

Fresh Water Pump Question

YatchJim is right, but here are some other things to consider after you do what Jim suggested.

-Make sure you have power to the pump. IE is the breaker tripped, is the fuse that is usually in line with the pump okay, are the connections to the pump good
-If the pump runs without the outlet line disconnected but won't pump water, it could be a demand switch that are usually built into the pumps of larger boats. Most better local boat repair shops have a bench test set up to test you pump and the demand switch if you can't figure it out

Keep us posted about the results.
