We stopped at Little Palm Island in the Florida Keys on our big adventure this summer. As we walked up to the restaurant from the dock I was amazed to see not one but about four water spouts very close to the shore. The five then merged into one big one. I snapped a couple of pictures and then went looking for cover in case they came our way.

Great shots! I've only seen a water spout once, and that was from quite a distance. Hope no one hurt and no damage ...

I wonder if any fish had a bad day...where I come from, we run like hell when we see that stuff. Great shot!

Very cool shots. I have seen a few but I have never heard of any damage being done by one. I am sure they must do some anyone know of an incident of water spout damage?

Although these were very close to the island and were more or elss stationary for what seemed like 5-10 minutes, they eventually moved away (out to sea). Not before I had inquired though about what type of storm shelter was available and where it was.

Yes Red Stripe, LPI was truly amazing. When we were in the pool a deer walked by, up to the bar and stood there as someone petted him and gave him a small snack. Then more came walking through the pool area, they weren't nervous or scared at all of people, it was pretty incredible. Here is my boat at LPI dock:

PS - I have pictures of the deer standing at the bar for a drink if anyone doesn't believe me! :)

Great shots, Jayson. Thanks for posting.

When I ever bring my boat to FL, LPI will be on the "must visit places" list.

Alex,

If you do go .... note that the waters in that area are *very* shallow. They have two docks, one looked to be in about 3-4 feet of water (of course varies with tide) and the other about 4-5. And there is no diesel in the area, nearest diesel was Dolphin marina which when I tried to go had only 3 feet of water. I ended up having to go up to Marathon to get diesel. So plan ahead ....

I might as well post a picture of one of the deer at the bar at LPI, here you go:

Hard to take a bad picture there. I docked at the other end as the docks you were at were hosting megayachts. If the deer was smart he or she would have ordered one of their signature cocktails - some of the best drinks I have ever had. So glad you enjoyed it - it is a special place.

No way that deer is 21... even in deer years!
