Water shutters (flappers)?

Hi All,

How important are the WATER SHUTTERS (FLAPPERS) on the

"Y" exhaust tube on a V-8? I just pulled off my elbows and

they open easy but don't spring back to the closed position

too well.

At a cost of $260 for 4 are they really needed? That could 1/2

fill both of my gas tanks!

They are very important. They prevent water from swamping your motor under certain conditions. The new style are very easy to install. I put new ones in last season.
