I recently had my dash panel replaced. The mechanics took off the gauges, I sent the dash out, had it copied and new one reinstalled. Thought all was done. Looks great. Now each time I get up on plane, I get a flow of water running down at my feet. And speedo will not work now. (more later). I thought the yard left my dash uncovered and rain got in there behind dash. But the water flow won't stop, or even slow down. Been like that for 6 weeks. A steady stream. Mechanic is blowing out speedo line to fix speedo, to no avail. Mechanic now thinks there is a windshield leak. I don't see one. Now I'm thinking the speedo may be the leak, are they water pressure powered? thought I read that once. It's a 1997 290 Sundancer, was dry as a bone inside, also now has a little water trickle inside cabin under dash area at plane speed too. I have to taste for salt or fresh, have done that yet as rain was thought to be the issue. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Yes. It's a simple hose (small tube) that goes from the drive to the speedo. Water enters through the hole in the drive and compresses the air inside the tube, which then spins the speedo needle. They forgot to reattach the tube to the backside of the speedo. To verify, disconnect the tube at the drive. The connection is at the forward end of the drive, in that "hole" area by the cavitation plate anode. It's probably on your starboard drive.

Dennis, great... thanks for the info. I'll try this.
