Replacing the dockside water hose hooked to the water pressure regulator. Was working fine, just needed newer hose. Leaking all over now. When removed completely and shifted back to water pump via water tank, when water turned back off at the spigot it shoots out a pretty good stream from the two holes in the water pressure regulator.

Will have to take apart, but I'm not familiar how these work. Seemed a little odd that it happened when I changed the hose. Maybe by tightening the connection I messed something up? Is there a rather obvious problem? It's as if the regulator is blocked perhpas?

Thanks for any input.

Writing without subjects in your sentences make it really hard to follow what's going on, so rather that assume or guess, here is a general answer.........

The shore water regulator in most Sea Rays is inside the boat right behind the shore water connection and they usually are not user servicable. Leaving one on a boat that has a history of leaking, even though you may think you have it repaired, is a bad idea. A dock hose can put a ton of water in a boat through a leaking regulator.......ususally when you least expect it. Spring for a new one and be done with it.

That is good advice on replacing the regulator. I see that they are only about a $30 part and straight forward to install.

All Set

19 minutes and $34 - round trip to local West Marine
2 minutes - remove old regulator and install new one.

Must of been bad for sure, as all set now.

I'm guessing that (my boat being 9 years old) that this should be part of regualr maintenance. Not sure how long these are made to last, but either having a spare or changing out every so many years is probably a wise idea.

Tim-

Were you in cold or heated storage this winter? If you were stored cold, I suspect that the pressure regulator didn't get properly winterized. All of the ones I have seen are plastic and it would easily crack if it froze. Easy fix anyways - good job!

Agree and have same problem - pressure regulator needs replaced - bought replacement but cannot figure out how to install - cannot get access to rear of panel and access port next to hull is worthless - how do i remove the panel the regulator is mounted to? 1996 330 SD.

I have had my boat for a little over a year and 2 regulators. I had my local marine max make me one with commercial fittings so I did not have to use the Perko plastic stuff anymore. Anyone interested, I can send you pictures. Just pm me.

Everyone on my dock sith Sea Rays has had problems whether they are mounted inside or directly on the exterior. They just don't last.

Thanks,

Dan

I have a 2000 380 aft cabin and need to install a new water inlet/pressure regulator. can anyone tell me how without taking apart the aft bedroom?

Did you ever figure this out? I need to do the same. I think I have a way if you haven't figured out something easy.
