I have a 1997 Sea Ray 370 Aft Cabin which is my first boat. The boat launched from heated winter storage a week ago. Since that time I have been using tank water. Today, I turned off the water pump and hooked up the shore water to the water inlet on the transom. After a few hours, I found lots of water leaking into the aft cabin. Upon closer inspection, it does not appear to be the first time this leak occurred.

I did notice that the water inlet on the transom seemed to be "discharging" water when the hose was not connected. Is that normal? Also, I have noticed that when using tank water, the water pump runs periodically even when I am not using any water from the tank. Would that maybe happen due to the discharge of water from the water inlet?

Thanks for any advice that can be offered.

You have a water leak somewhere between the domestic water pump and you fixtures which is allowing water to from the pressure side of the pump to leak out. That why you hear the pump cycling as the water leaks out the pressure drops and the pressure switch cycles you pump back on to build up pressure. Leave your pump on without the dock side water turn on and check every fixture including any anchor wash down or other fixture such as a rear deck shower hose until you find the leak or leaks.

You should be able to follow most all water lines through out the boat looking and listening for the water leak. Also check to see where you water heater pressure relief valve is pipe out the boat and make sure the pop valve when the water heater has not failed and relieveing water out the boat.

This is some thing you will become more familure with the more time you spend on the boat and learning where everthing is going to and from.

Thanks for the help. I believe the issue is the water inlet/regulator and its location. With the fresh water pump on, water leaks from the water inlet. It is even a bigger discharge with high pressure dock water connected. The water inlet/regulator is located inside a compartment on the swim platform which also houses a freshwater washdown hose and the shore power connections. There does not appear to be any way for water accumulating inside this compartment to drain, so I believe it ends up seeping under the fiberglass of the swim platform and into the boat. I have asked Sea Ray for a solution since I do not understand why a closed compartment on the swim platform, which is not water-tight, would not have a way for water to drain from the compartment.

I have no advice, I only wanted to chime in about your 370 being your first boat. Congrats! Go big or go home!
