I've had a continual issue with water getting into the gas tank since I've purchased the boat. I haven't been able to run it due to the alarm continually being on so it's kept me from using the boat. I've completely emptied the gas out of the tank two times and then water goes right back in. I replaced the fuel sending unit with a basic one and that didn't resolve the issue. I spoke with the marine parts dealer and he said it's a known issue and said the fix is a welded fuel sending unit. I purchased the welded fuel sending unit and water is still getting into the fuel.

Only one of the metal sleeves were doing their job so I had to put in bigger self-tapping screws because four of the five existing holes were so stripped out there was nothing for the screws to grab hold of. Two of them had metal sleeves, but one of them was stripped out too. Also, the area where the sending unit makes contact with the gas tank is so warped the sending unit can't sit flat.

The problem I see with this tank is that it's concave (major design flaw in my opinion) so water sits on the top of the fuel tank area and is then just slowly dripping in. When I have it sitting on the trailer it's set to the highest tilt possible. I keep my cover on the boat but it's still not preventing the issue from happening when the cover is off.

Without tearing the boat apart to replace the fuel tank, which is in the floor in the back, a friend is saying put 5200 adhesive on the screws and then adhesive around the hole and the gasket on top of that and more adhesive on top of the gasket and then put the sending unit on top of that and then put the screws back into the screw holes and let it dry so it creates a sandwich of adhesive.

Any other suggestions or things anyone would suggest before I try yet another attempt at this? Completely exasperated over this. Thank you! Sonia

Rusty has a single engine Laguna that he built himself when he worked in the factory. I suspect he knows more about them than anyone. I'll send him a text and ask him to check the thread.

Rusty is running 650FLY somewhere around Hillsborough Inlet today. It may take him a while to get to this............sorry, but his day job comes first.

Use 4200. if you are taking that route, 5200 is permanent and if you need to change sender you will be able to do it easier.
