Warning buzzer

Great forum!

Question - I have a '89 SeaRay 268 w/7.4L, B1 O/D, new closed cooling system . . .

Today I was out in the ocean with 7 other people (outrigger canoe race escort boat). After 2 hours of running hard the "warning buzzer" came on continously. My temp gauge was in the 170-190 range (closed cooling); oil pressure was normal.

At the dock I added a quart of oil, filled up the drive oil reservoir and checked the coolant level in the overflow tank and the heat exchanger (all full). After letting it sit for an hour I cranked it up - and the buzzer sounded almost immediately without stopping. No explanation.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Does your engine have a manual? It sounds like an overheat buzzer, so it could be a bad sender.
