Need to either re-build or replaced my swim platform. Re-build estimate is $2000. I would much prefer to find a used one in good shape or have a new one made.

I'm hoping someone knows of a wholesaler or salvage place that might have a 2005 or 2006 swim platform. And I think that older & new years may fit as well -- like maybe 2001 - 2009.

Or, references to quality after-market fabricators willing to make one that fits without new through-hulls. I haven't found one willing -- even if I make them a template!

I used swimplatforms.com high quality product and very good to deal with.

You will want to look for 2004 and up. I am pretty sure the 2001-2003 was off-white Gelcoat as opposed to Arctic White that was used on later models.

The reason the after-market guys won't want to make it the same is because they already have a mold and they won't want to re-do it for one platform, it would be cost-prohibitive for you even if they agreed to.

You will probably have a hard time finding an after market with a close fit because the Platform was standard on the 280 so the only reason to need one is for a rare case such as your own.

Nope, the older boats are made with Arctic White as well, just a different shade! BTW there are about six different shades...... That's why you need a HIN to buy the right color gelcoat.

So they have a different shade but call it the same color!:smt021

Just Lovely! Thanks ALOT Sea Ray (or SR supplier)

Thanks for the reference to swimplatforms.com, Quint4 & MonacoMike -- I submitted a quote request on their Website.

FYI, I also found a guy in WA state who is willing to make one: myswimplatform.com. He's very reasonable, and says he can duplicate any platform given pictures...

How bad is yours? Have any pics? Is the lid over the ladder still good? I might be interested in it if its not damaged.

FYI, swimplatforms.com wanted about $2K. myswimplatform.com wanted about $1,500. But SeaRay only wants $2,925 (via MarineMax), so I decided to go with that.

@Woody, The lid and ladder are fine, but there a chunk of fiberglass is missing from between the ladder and the stern. I don't have any pix of the damaged platform, but I can get some and e-mail to you.

I think swimplatforms.com is where Sea Ray gets their platforms from?

Well, I'm guessing that swimplatforms.com isn't allowed to use the Sea Ray molds except on platforms ordered through Sea Ray. Here is swimplatforms.com's response to my inquiry:

"We have not built a platform for your model boat and do not have your transom specs on file. We should be able to offer a nice looking Platform package for your boat. We can send you an email with our template making instructions that would be best for your specific boat model. (transom mount)..."

Also, I think the markup is probably shared by both Sea Ray and MarineMax. And the percentage markup is probably closer to the traditional 100% retail markup on the manufacturer's price to Sea Ray.

I don't know for sure but I don't think Sea Ray is going to have Fiberglass swim platforms made by a third company company when they make all the other fiberglass parts themselves in the glass shop. I can believe some of the older platforms that were made from plastic were probably made by a third party but not the newer ones.

Have you confirmed with Marine Max whether or not the platform they quoted you is a true Sea Ray platform or an aftermarket product?
