Hey Fellow Sundancers..
I am in serious need for an owners manual for my '86 268 Dancer..if you have one that you are willing to part with...or even if you have one that you would consider photocopying and selling, I would be very grateful.
Sea Ray's archives do not have any available for this year & model.

Thanks,
Sonny Carson

Posting once is sufficient, Sonny (http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40605). Most people use the "New Posts - 24 Hours (or 48)" feature to view threads and will see it. If it goes 3 or 4 days without a response, then a simple "bump" would be prudent. Posting too often for the same thing just comes across as impatient. No offense intended - just a friendly FYI.

You can try Sea Ray's website - if they don't have it for your year, try a year or two in either direction for the same model.

Try 1989 268da Sea Ray archives

Did SeaRay even make the 268 in 1986?

When I went looking for a manual for my '87.....I contacted them and they told me they didn't make many in '87 and then went into full production of the 268 in 1988.

So were any made in '86?

....Yes, and if you look at sunset's pic and sea the large stripe down the center that is what an 1986 looks like.

Hey Dennis, Thanks for the info..I thought I posted just once..my bad..
I did pull up the owners manual (such that it is) for an 89 268DA, so that is what I will go by, since it seems that most parts are obsolete anyway...Sea Ray Customer Support has been less than helpful..
Have a Good Season,
Sunset

Yes, that's very common in the marine industry. If it's a part that Sea Ray made themselves, it is almost certainly NLA (no longer available) for an older boat. It's just not feasible (money-wise) for companies to keep a stock of older parts or re-build something one part at a time.

However, sometimes you can find what you're looking for at salvage yards. FP Marine is one of them.

If it's a part that Sea Ray did not make, then even though it may be NLA from Sea Ray, it may still be available through aftermarket sources. Even on a 10-year old boat, it's hit or miss, let alone 25. It's just one of those catch-22's to owning an older boat.

Good luck!

LOL, Marine Max tried to tell me that there was no way my boat was made in 88...

I am in the process of buying a 1986 Sun Ray 268. I have seen the owner's manual on board but need current owner's permission to remove the manual from the boat. Will let you know when I have a photographed copy. Let me know if you still need one.

I have an owner's manual for our 1985 260 SD. I would be happy to copy it in .pdf and send to you. Thanks

Y'all need to check the dates on these posts....way outdated.

Is there any current info foe this subject?? I just bought a 1986 268 Sundancer and could also use a full manual.. pdf file would be even better...

Hi there I've an 89 268Da the same as your boat mostly . What engine drive combination do you have . I have the original manual for the boat as weĺ as all the peripherals like water heater, stove, wiring diagram ,stern drive, etc . The manual are not repair manuals but are still helpful. I can scan them if you would like and send you the files VIA email if you like. Just send me an address . I kind of wish our site had a section to hold manuals for reference . I'm sure you have a lot to go over in your boat as I did when we bought it . Take your time and enjoy the process it will give you peace of mind knowing what you have going forward as a baseline . Some first things to check and replace right away if you are at all unsure of maintenance past
All fluids
Impeller
Risers and manifolds especially in salt
All hoses in cooling circuit
Exhaust tubes and shutters
Bellows , global exhaust and shift cable
If it's been out of use for awhile really baby it for the first 20hrs or so and check things often .
Best of fortune with the new boat

Ok folks I will get it out as soon as I can I've had a family emergency and am juggling a 2 and 5 year old with my wife in hospital . Sorry for the delay

Family always comes first.. no hurry.. hope she's ok...
