How would you deal with these "I want what you have" people? I never agreed with any of the bailouts and some of the big dollar management types should have gone to jail....not get a six figure bonus for crashing the economy. We already supply free health care and "money to live on" to a huge part of our population. Unemployment should have stopped at 26 weeks....a year max! I take it all the protestors are on vacation or taking personal days so they can riot and pay their bills......NOT. I would force them to leave every night when the park closes. If they don't leave.....arrest them and put up a tent city prison with bland food Michelle Obama likes. It's not AZ so when it gets cold, they'll shutup and go home, Mike.

In the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution it states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances"

By placing that language in the First Amendment, it would appear that the founding fathers held it in high importance.

While I don't agree with what the protesters are doing, I defend their right to assemble peaceably. My biggest question of them would be "What solutions do you have to the problems you're addressing?", and my biggest fear is that this public protest continues to grow until it becomes rioting in the streets. At that point it becomes a threat to the safety of many others and should be stopped.

If the park closes at night.....they should go home or elsewhere or they are breaking the law. By breaking the law and not being a peaceful protest, how long does it take before marshall law is enacted removing everyone's rights. Once the govt tries to enforce marshall law....the normal working guy will start to push back. A state trooper once told me...."there are enough crazy people out there...we fear the person who has hunted all their life to push back what they see as injustice. We can't hide from them and they will hunt us". I know three ex-military veterans who did that for a living for years and they are still very good at it. That's pretty scary reality and a slippery slope, Mike.

I agree the OWS protesters have the right to peacefully assemble and protest. Even though their reasons are without logic, it does make me proud to see that people can protest here without being run over by a tank like happens in other countries.

With that said, this crowd appears to be getting more and more "restless" for some kind of clash every day. I have a feeling we will see violence break out within a matter of days. I think police across the US have already given them too much leeway. It was a HUGE mistake for Bloomberg to publically state they were going to clear the park for cleaning, after which, allow the protesters to return when they finished then to only back down hours before it was to happen. That single event empowered the OWS people big time. It is no different in parenting a child. When you say you are going to do something you had better do it. If he had any doubts about following through he never should have opened his mouth.

As far as the OWS protests go, this is a very interesting display of social behavior. It also pretty much backs up everything I have thought about liberals for the last 10 or so years. They are protesting pretty much anything a hard left liberal does not like. What they seem to forget is that their party has had majority control since 2006 and complete majority control for 2 years. Some of their people like Obama, Barney Frank, etc. have taken more Wall Street money than anyone. All of these people should pack up and move to Washington, at least the ones that are really there to protest something, not just for the sex, drugs and feeling of belonging to something.

I have been following the OWS Charlotte very closley since it is local to me. This is a small group, much more peaceful (so far) than the some of the other protest groups. They still share the same type of cloudy goals and objectives as their sister protest groups. Their biggest concern for a week now has been getting the city to allow them to set up porta johns in the park so they dont have to walk a few blocks up to use the public bathrooms. That pretty much dominated their efforts last week. We will see what happens with this moving forward.

Maybe they should eat and drink less! Let them pay for their own potties if they have enough money for food & beverage while not working, Mike.

Some of these protesters tried to block traffic near the DC convention center and were promptly run over. They were angery the DC police didn't immeadiatly arrest the driver even though they put themselves in harms way to create disorder on the streets of DC. For them it seems so easy to point the finger of blame while having no accountability for their own actions. Maybe they should practice what they preach.

Blocking the road is not peaceful protesting. If you stand in the road, prepare to get run over. If you throw stones and bottles, prepare to get shot by police or any armed citizen. If you don't like the results....get peaceful, Mike.
