That is a sweet looking ride!!! Where do you run out of? I'm in Blue Point. I will try and head to Watch Hill this weekend. All of my kids games are between 9:30 and Noon on Saturday so I should be able to get out a bit , maybe overnight, if the weather permits!

Weather is supposed to be great on Long Island this weekend (finally) and I plan on fishing most of the morning/early afternoon on Sunday. I will be in Moriches Bay/Inlet so if you are cruising around and see the Ashley Kayla give a toot and come by for a beverage....

Can't get out this weekend (again)......

My kids better get softball and lacrosse scholarships one day....

Todd,

I'm out of Great River. Name of our boat is "The Right Decision". Probably will not get out this weekend but definately next weekend. Been to WH only once (moored off) before but plan on doing several overnights this summer with the family and our labs....

Can you give me the rundown on reserving a slip at WH? A friend of mine, with a 47' Carver, said I would likely not have issues getting a slip on the "A" side...wherever that is.

Rocco,
When you first head into WH the docks all along the east end of the marina (on your left) are called "A" Land. The pier to the right of that is called "AB" pier. The east side of it is "A" pier and the west side of it is "B" pier as they face the same basins of A & B land. As you guessed it the bulkhead by the Tiki bar is "B" land. Now when you come into the marina there is another basin to the west ( your right). The bulkhead along the restaurant is "C" land. The pier in the middle is "CD" pier and of course the bulkhead that is to the north end of that basin is "D" land. You and I don't need to concern ourselves with "D" land because they require a 13' beam minimum to dock there. Pretty much all others are open. With your beam I don't think you would have a problem unless you're running over on saturday morning. I did see alot of turnover last season on saturdays so even if it was full you would probably get a spot after 11 am if you were on the waiting list.
As far as reservations go you need to call them at: 631 597 3109 starting around 8 or 8:30 am. The marina does not monitor any VHF channels which is kind of wierd. They will take reservations with a credit card until they are 50% full. Then its first come, first served. They also will bang you for the slip whether you show up or not once you make the reservation. Hope to see you there this summer!!

Thanks for the detailed info, Todd. It's extremely helpful.

My beam is 8 1/2 and we'll have the kids and dogs with us, so I heard the "A" side is the better side for us to go. We plan on staying over several times this summer, so I'm sure we'll meet up.

For day trips, I usually shoot straight to SH and drop off at the dock and then anchor off and wade in. Not sure if that's possible at WH.

Not sure if we'll day trip to WH or SH memorial day weekend, but I'll figure that out then.

Rocco
