Hey Everyone. Still pretty much a newbie here. I searched the forums to the best of my ability. Can anyone recommend a few good marinas on the Vineyard? This would only be for transient/mid week/weekend trips. Preferably a slip. Thanks for the help.

You have Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and Menemsha for harbors.....What are you looking to do, family, partying, getting lost in a quiet port, etc. Where are you coming from......are you going anywhere after the Vineyard...A little more info.

It will be a family trip so someplace close enough to keep the kids busy and enjoy a bit of the hustle and bustle. I'm sure a party trip will be called for as well sometimes without the kids. We will be coming from Warwick, RI. The plan would be to only stop on the Vineyard with maybe a stop by my old hometown, Westport, MA but I know that area pretty well. Thanks for the input!

Go to Oak Bluffs......A lot going on for both kids and adults! Not sure how old the kids are, but they have a movie thearter, carousel, game room, shopping, good restaurants, parasailing, jet skis, etc. all within easy walking distance to the marina...

I agree with kids the only place to go is Oak Bluffs, otherwise we like Vineyard Haven Marina. The mainia is great and the staff super. There is also a beach at Oak Bluffs that does not exist at the other locations.

Thanks Guys. Looks like a good spot to me. Been to the vineyard quite alot when I was a kid but always on the ferry. It will be a much nicer experience wit hthe boat. Thanks again.

I second the OB recommendation. Go there couple of times a month during the season. You usually need to reserve a slip, but town moorings are readily available. Just be prepared if you get a mooring that they allow up to 4 boats per ball so you usually end up with "neighbors" which usually is lot's of fun, sometimes not so much. It is a great place, lots of fun.
