I want to convert this phone jack to a double usb to charge phones. I have searched the internet and can only find a single. Does a double exist?
@Blueone You need to remove the phone jack and the 2 half spacers on each side of the phone jack. Then you should have room for 2 Vimar USB’s side-by-side.
Are you sure?…. I think this is what I have, the frame pic below and didn’t think there was a place to clip two in the frame…. I think I need to take apart and see.
I did this but I could not reuse the same brush metal plate. Doesn't look like they make a double that fits what you have there. I had to get a different, darker looking plate. Both were tucked away so I didn't mind. Fixture was a double with a high voltage usb outlet. I believe this one below. https://www.vimar.com/en/int/catalog/product/index/code/20295
Have any 12v plugs in the cabin? This was a direct replacement for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07FXH5ZZK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I did this conversion using this guy: www.vimar.com/en/int/catalog/product/index/liv/L1040?page=9 Only a single but a drop-in Vimar Idea series with the same look and feel. This outlet is near the entertainment equipment so I wired the the USB jack to the Fusion head unit USB input. Charges and also can be used to serve MP3s. I put a simple dual-USB charger where the original 3.5mm stereo jack audio input was.
Yeah, that’s not gonna work. Sorry about that. What I did on my boat is remove the center blank from a 2 electrical-outlet and put the USB in between the 2 outlets. You need 120v anyway, so the splicing is easy. You can essentially put USB ports wherever you have an electrical outlet. I have one in the MSR, GSR and galley.
Are you sure this https://www.vimar.com/en/int/catalog/product/index/code/20295 wont work if you take those 2 pieces out just inboard of the 2 screws in your pic?
Well that might work too. Single in the phone plate and a single in between the receptacle next door This is the area I am trying to cleanup
I don’t think that will work. It is the Eikon series, and Sea Ray uses the Idea series. I suppose you could by an Eikon base plate and cover plate, but it wouldn’t match. I’m under the impression Blue wants to use the basic setup that he has.
