Video of Wakeboard Accident

Yeah Pres, I agree, that's more of a self-inflicted Darwin injury

It's much safer standing on the sideslines watching
Race spectators

Wonder if the driver was ticketed with leaving the scene of an accident.

Oh My Gawwwd! Is that Bad?

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people I see riding on the sunpads foredecks around here. No wake zone and out. No wake zone is still stupid, underway is just ridiculous.

I have an aunt that was hit by a boat on lake tahoe when she was young. Lucky to be alive, and she is amazing well put together after the ordeal (decades later) but she won't show anyone her legs due to the scarring of where the prop chewed them all up. She's an extremely attractive woman who hasn't ever been able to wear shorts or skirts that don't come down to her ankles due to her scarring.. and she is damn lucky to even be alive. I guess my point is, even when doing nothing wrong you can get killed or maimed... why increase the odds exponentially?

This past Sunday, past a VERY popular waterfront bar and Restaurant (Water's Edge for you locals) a 28-30 something express type boat (non-searay) was on plane with three young 20ish passengers dancing on the swim platform.....that's ON PLANE....there was a total of approx 10 POB.....but the three on the platform.... :smt021

This is a third-hand story, so take it FWIW, but our neighbors were at Fairlee Creek/Jellyfish Joel's over Labor Day. You may recall from recent discussions that that's the creek with the tricky entrance with narrow channel and strong currents.

They told us that shortly before they arrived a "large" boat was negotiating the entrance channel with several small children, wearing PFDs, dangling their feet in the water off the swim platform. Somehow, whether because the boat had to make an abrupt maneuver or a wake rocked it, one of the kids fell off the platform.

They airlifted the child out just before our neighbors arrived. What a way to spend Labor Day. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

And the boat traffic in that area was simply CRAZY last weekend. Between the large number of sailboats, plus the large number of cruisers going North and South through that area -> the water was completely chopped up. I had to do some fancy maneuvering in that area to maintain "safe" distances between myself and other boats.

When you really stop to think about all the dumb stuff we see on the water can you just imagine if people were that stupid when they drive cars too? Oh wait............some of them are.
