The video is dedicated to those I met along my journey. Boaters are a great group of people!

One person I will single out is Capt. Rusty. ..... Thanks buddy....(This vid for you)

This a compilation of photographs and video I took along the way. It's not a chronological representation, but more of a conglomeration of what I experienced along the way down the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway) & the Atlantic Ocean.

It should help someone thinking of taking the journey get some understanding of what to expect.

I hope you enjoy.

awesome video, great music. we have done the trip, saw many familiar places. thanks for taking the time.

Thanks guys, it really did take longer than expected to put together.

At first I thought I would create a simple 6 min. video. But, when I put the content together I ended up with 33 min.!!!!!! So, not as planned.

I really struggled with cutting it down to the Youtube 15 min. length requirement. I didn't want to lose the long cuts because it takes away from the experience and the realization of the distance. Though I finally got it down to 14:59 ...haha

That was a great video. Thanks for putting it on here. I’ve always wanted to do that trip, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. The thing I enjoyed watching was the happy look on your face, I feel I look the same way even though I’m on a lake and cruising! The freedom of our boats, the people we meet, the friends we make, the sights we see, it all part of boating, and love it all!

Great video indeed. Watching it all I could think of was poem from Dr. Suess
Oh, The Places You'll Go! Thanks for sharing

Great boat, great waters, great video, great music.....doesn't get any better than that.

Thanks for putting it together so we could go along with you.

Wow, amazing, sort of takes the incredibly scary part out of it for someone that hasn't done it. It looked amazing. Please post your music list, I loved the playlist.

It's great you guys enjoyed it because I did it, to a large degree, for you all.

Like MancaveII says, to take the "scary" part out.... or what I would call, the unknown. Though, I'm not suggesting doing it alone. That adds another element to the whole experience.

I hope it inspires others to follow their dreams.

Music list:

Eddie Vedder - Society (Into the Wild Soundtrack)
James Morrison - One LIfe
Stick Figure -Weight of Sound
Eddie Vedder - Hard Sun (Into the Wild Soundtrack)
Kenny Chesney - Boats
Kenny Chesney - Island Boy
Kenny Chesney - When I See This Bar

Enjoyed it immensely my man.

You push the envelope so constant that it flops right out of the box of human reckoning...and off you go on journeys others only dream of.

One life, one sun and one horizon that never ends...keep on keeping on brother!

The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever. Jacques Cousteau

That's a great video, Eric. Enjoyed reliving the experience. Nice shot of DW as well!

Are you heading south again this fall?

Thanks for sharing your trip! Something I'd like to do someday, Mike.

Chris, it was really nice meeting you and hanging out. Do something about those "no-seeums", would you please? ....haha

Rusty, I really don't have the words.....let me just take a second... I'm not an emotional guy, but there is a little water forming on the corners of my eyes. It means so much coming from you, and I know you understand this is but just one adventure for me. One life experience.....

I didn't know when I pulled the lines if we would even connect up at all. But your graciousness of showing me the Sea Ray facilities, the birth of the 650 Fly, running the 50 Dancer down to Miami, and opening your home to me. Dude your barbeque was awesome....having the pleasure of meeting Babe..what a sweetie..... You da' man, my friend...

BTW - I had the opportunity to meet Jacques once before he passed and sit and chat with him...and it was one of the few times I was in awe....I've told people that I feel most comfortable and alive in the sky or below the sea than at ground level. Most don't understand what I mean.

I can't tell you the peace it brings me to be outside looking out at the vast ocean with no land in sight....not another vessel around...Just me and the rolling seas....Something about that was made for me...(Though, I don't have a need to continue this alone anymore).

KT, it's great to hear from you. I enjoyed our rendezvous. I still remember when we first met in Belhaven and I told my story. I have no idea what you thought of me then. But, I'm glad you caught up to me and we were able to hangout and run part of this journey together. I hope we can do it again sometime. It was a treat meeting you and Jo.

Yesterday I was invited and spent time on a 49' sailing cat.... I think you know where I'm going with this.... The next time I do this I think I'll be pulling the lines from the dock and going even farther. I think back to Cali & Hawaii this winter to see friends and then see how the ocean calls me the following winter.....but nothing is decided yet.... "No plans".

edit-- adding info ---

I think there is something I left out.

I can't say enough about my vessel and Sea Ray.

When I bought her, I had no intention of doing anything but runs around the bay with friends. It was an after-thought to point her south. We had little time together before I put this trust in her and committed to the adventure. I didn't know what she could do. Each day we would learn to trust each other a little more until it was time to take her outside... about 30 miles offshore on a 130 mile run... Yes, I was alone on the vessel, but Sea Ray corporate, Rusty, this forum, and the people I met along the way truly made it possible. I can't tell you how much I praised Sea Ray Corp. to the other boaters I met along the way.... Not just the boat and her relative thriftiness @ 1 MPG, but the team behind her.... Calling into customer service about an issue and getting immediate response or an email with a pdf a few minutes later.... a Huge help when you are on a journey.... I mean what other manufacturer does that? While others were complaining about the service they received after purchase from other manufacturers, I had nothing but praise.....and keep in mind she's not a new boat...far from it.... Yes, the vast majority of boaters were sailors and trawlers. The sailboats were boasting about the 1 gal they would burn an hour doing 5 kts as the trawlers would burn about 3 gal doing 6kts..... They were surprised that my displacement speed of 6-7 kts I would burn about 3 gals too....but I had the option of doing 20kts which they conceded they did not... So each type of vessel is a trade off....and while a Sea Ray 'Dancer might not be the cruiser of choice amongst the cruising population, she is great providing options and choices many vessels can't.... Then if sailors came aboard and saw what roominess she had below, many were surprised....real doors...separate shower.....full refrigerator....big generator.... I might not have sold any along the way, but I think I might have changed the opinion of a few.

thanks a ton for sharing the trip - the video is awesome, makes me wanna jump in the boat tomorrow and start the trip south......df

What a great video?. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love to have the chance to know how boating is on the other side of the pound!

one tech question: I've noticed you have Aetna tachs on your boat. Do you get a steady reading of the engines' rpm? Mines fluctuate a bit and only the thousands and hundreds stay fixed. What about yours?
