I have a1977 searay220srv 898 drive line. new upper and lower drive 2 years ago. started feeling vbration end of last season. pulled drive to check gimbal bearing. feel no play and rolls smoothly . could motor be out of alignment causing this problem. also checked input shaft all universals they are new. any ideas would be appreciated.

Alignment would cause vibration at all speeds, but could still be the problem. Since this happens at a distinct speed, there is a mechanical resonance contributing to the problem. Is it present at all speeds and just worse at 2500 RPM? Present at all speeds is probably alignment. Otherwise, look for any loose mounting bolts. Have you checked the compression on the engine?

vibration starts at 2500 and stays till full throttle . vibbrates even when you pop it out of gear and rev up to 2200 2500 . you can feel it in the floor of boat. pulled drive and ran the boat and no vibration motor smooth good compression.

u-joints? What sound does it make when you run it up to 1500-2000 rpms in neutral and turn the helm hard over to port and starboard? Does it rattle? Any growling sounds when you power up in gear? What are the motor mounts like? How new are the spark plugs and wiring harness? Assume the prop is in good condition?
