Vesselview smartcraft

The tag on my gateway says part no: 8M0054076. The axiom sees data coming from the module but it doesn’t do anything with that data. Same for the simrad that I connected.

@ttmott @Shaps

What do your current dashes look like?

Did you start with the link gauges, like I have, and replace them with modern gauges?

So the vv link and primary harness will let me talk to nmea2000, keep my current gauges and use any of the new model Vesselviews?

Those diagrams may look a bit daunting, but for me at least, it was basically plug and play.

No, they make a lot of sense. I wish I would’ve seen that thread sooner. Or paid more attention to it, if I saw it previously and overlooked it.

I think this gives me a path that I like with my old simrad.

I can pull the Vesselview 1.5. Put the simrad go7 in its place. Install the vv link and should be able to get all Vesselview info that I currently have, plus have a back up mfd if my axiom ever crashes. Assuming the go7 will load the vesselview software, which it should.

That will almost completely rid my boat of nmea0183, with the smart transducer being the last component on that network..

No
You need a primary harness as well
For me it was 8M0075065
Call Mercury helpline and tell them what engines you have and that you want a new vessel view. They will confirm the primary harness you need.
Note it is in that harness where the connections for the gauges are.

I saw your correction, I just didn’t bother correcting my post.

thank you for your help.

I cant answer about the simrad running the vv software, but it makes sense.
I do know that if the link is not i powered up and functioning, you most definitely will NOT see the mercury software.
Getting rid of nmea0183 makes sense to me..

So the current plan is to return this gateway (if I can) and order the vv link. Confirm that the simrad will load vv with that running and then order the primary harness and pull the vv1.5.

not to be pedantic, but you need a primary harness and a vv4 harness (at the least).
You will also need to have at least 1 available slot in your jbox under your helm.

So you are going to add the Link to your existing VV 1.5? If so that would keep your gauges functional. I have a VV7; it's mounted in the overhead as are the gauges. My gauges are System Link also.

No, I’m going to install the vv link, confirm that it will activate Vesselview on my simrad go, then order the two harnesses mentioned above which should drive my system link gauges. Then pull the vv1.5. That’s the plan. And I have to do all of this without the wife noticing me spend boat bucks during Christmas.

You cant run your vesselview link without the primary harness and the vv4 harness.

Look at the rigging in the other post

Seems correct
Do you have at least 1 empty port on your jbox behind the helm?
If not you will have to swap it out for a larger one
