I am going to help a friend clean up a barn find Searay, 4 years in the barn has left it very dirty. What type of cleaning solution should we start with before beginning buffing, just soap and water or something stronger ? Thanks

I always had luck washing with something like simple green or even better "Roll Off" on very dirty boats. My thought process is to use something strong that I wouldn't normally use on a nicely waxed or taken care of surface.

No joke here, toilet bowl cleaner. A Sea Ray tech with 30 yrs experience did that on my boat before buffing. It removes mineral deposits, rust, and dirt. Also cleaned up a set of old 80's fender racks stored in a barn for years before I polished them. :smt038
